I hope this is the start of a national conversation on resilience, not just a flash in the pan. The @LibDems are calling for a Civil Volunteer Reserve to rebuild our societal reliance and ensure we are prepared for the worse, even if we all hope for the best.

A security flaw in PHP, software behind websites worldwide, prompted a National Cyber Security Centre alert this week. Mike Dixon secured an urgent question in the Lords to ask the minister what went smoothly in the first 24 hours and what was harder. @mikedixn

A positive step towards stronger, independent press regulation. ✊🗞️ @anna4fes and @officialtulisa met with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy to discuss the urgent need for genuinely independent press regulation and the action needed to address the issues that matter. This is just the beginning. There’s still work to do, and we’ll keep pushing for change.

As websites have been taken down, following critical php vulnerabilities, this is another reminder of how important cyber security is. That's why our call for a proper digital sovereign strategy is about supporting British tech as well as improving our resilience.

Putin has the blood of thousands of Ukrainians on his hands as well that of brave Russian dissidents. The United States government has become a propaganda wing of the Kremlin.
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

Farmers have been left high and dry by the SFI shambles - a policy appallingly designed by the Conservatives and woefully implemented by Labour. Today, @LibDems led a debate in Parliament calling for proper support for farmers to protect our environment AND produce food.

Rejoining the EU single market and customs union would boost growth, raise revenues and allow tax cuts for everyone. The PM admits Brexit has damaged our economy—so what is he waiting for?

Matilda Davies devoted her life to caring for her disabled child, yet received little support herself. Tragically, she died by suicide at just 36. No parent carer should be left to struggle alone. Will the PM act to ensure families get the support they deserve?

Donald Trump and Elon Musk undermined Ukraine's defences – directly aiding Putin's war machine. That's beyond the pale. The Prime Minister must stand up to Trump and forge a united front in Europe. We cannot allow Musk and Starlink to gain even more power over our continent.

🧵 Trump’s war - which was cheered on by the Conservatives and Reform - continues to drive up everyday costs, leaving households having to tighten their belts once again. At next week's Budget the Labour government must make good on their promise to give people breathing space.

We should be broadening young people’s opportunities, not narrowing them at 14. No young person’s ambition should be limited by their background. We need a mix of academic and vocational learning, flexible work experience and mentoring to help every young person thrive. @MuniraWilson

So BBC Three, Scotland and R4 Extra are going. We are watching the death by a thousand cuts of a great British institution. From major sporting events, to national celebrations, the BBC has a unique ability to bring the country together. But, successive Governments have left our BBC in a state of managed decline. @LibDems are calling for a permanent charter to end this cyclical uncertainty hanging over the BBC’s future and protect it for generations to come. Once the BBC is gone, it is gone for good. It's time we made the choice to save it.
