KOTOR remains one of my favorite video games and Mass Effect was amazing. We’ll miss you BioWare.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

My office is hiring an Artificial Intelligence Policy Fellow to help shape AI legislation and track AI developments in the private sector as Congress works to keep pace with the technology. Experience in AI, policy research, or national security is encouraged.

Vivek and his family have received so much hate for being Indian Americans. Such racism is disgusting and needs to stop. THAT SAID, this ad was odious and the producers should be ashamed of themselves. She abused her children and let them be molested. Shame on her and them.
I like Vivek and think a lot of the smears against him are unfair. He is very intelligent and highlights real policy problems. But his latest ad exploiting the abusive mother of Amy Acton disgusts me. This woman was so horrible she lost custody of her at age 12.

This was not Shultz’s best moment frankly, but this shows how manipulative Elizabeth Holmes was and still is. Sure, she may be a mom but that doesn’t mean she’s incapable of doing evil. The harm, thank God, was very limited this time, but can we say the same for the next fraud?
George Shultz, Reagan's Secretary of State, was told by his own grandson that Theranos was faking its blood tests. He sided with Elizabeth Holmes. In the video below the grandson, Tyler Shultz, tells it himself on 60 Minutes Australia. Tyler met Holmes in his grandfather's living room and joined Theranos out of Stanford in 2013. George Shultz was 93 and sat on the board of a company on its way to a $9 billion valuation. On April 11, 2014 Tyler emailed Holmes that research had been doctored and failed quality checks ignored. The reply came from her president, Sunny Balwani: "The only reason I have taken so much time away from work to address this personally is because you are Mr. Shultz's grandson." Tyler quit and went to his grandfather. He was told to move on with his life. A few months later Elizabeth Holmes came to the family's Thanksgiving dinner. The case for the grandfather. He was 93 and no scientist. Henry Kissinger and James Mattis sat on the same board and believed the same thing. Against them stood a junior employee with less than a year at the company. The case against him. He was a director, and an employee had brought him a warning about patients' blood tests. He set up a meeting between his grandson and Theranos's lawyers, and had to physically separate them. The legal bills passed $400,000. Tyler's parents talked about selling their house. When the reporting proved Tyler right, his grandfather kept backing Holmes. In November 2016 Tyler put his name on the record in the Wall Street Journal. "My grandfather has clearly chosen Elizabeth over his grandson. And if he's going to make that decision, I'm going to make him do it publicly." Your grandfather backs a fraud over you. Do you keep it in the family, or put your name in the paper? Follow for more tape from before and after the biggest blowups.

Jesus… Imagine the fraud that can happen. North Korea is already using AI to help their IT workers deceive recruiters. This is frightening.
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

Okay, I’m sold. If renewables get a good boost, that’s all fine with me.
Confused by all the debate about the new permitting reform bill? Here is a quick cheat-sheet of the most important provisions, and their likely impact on emissions:

Played around with it for half an hour. It’s similar to how Clinton made the White House have its first website. It’s not a bad idea in fairness and has potential, but there are some kinks to fix and people are going to be skeptical about using this or give any PII.
SECRETARY RUBIO on AMERICA.GOV: The point of all of this that we're doing here today, and this is simple, is to make the process more accessible and easier for Americans.

The issue is that while railroads are a very useful mode of transportation that spawned industrialization at a mass scale, data centers are used for a tool that is not exactly improving worker productivity to merit hundreds of billions in investment.
This chart shows railroads peaking at almost 10% of GDP! (Why you'd put a percentage chart on a log scale is beyond me...)

I’ve seen these Corgi announcements for a year. I honestly thought it was a PRC industrial espionage operation to steal tech and talent. No company hires these types of people unless if they’re trying to honeypot. Turns out they’re an actual company and boy is it awkward.

@allie__voss you’re going to have to do a full dissection of this company.

I remember being so excited that I may not have to do venal blood draws due to Theranos. I have a phobia of needles and still exists. This fraud should have been caught much sooner. With that said, I can’t wait to watch this movie.
Here is official trailer, You Can See Everything

If I ever have kids, they’re going to private school. Public school, save for some fantastic magnet schools, isn’t that great and homeschooling is not a real option. I’ve been private schooled all my life and I would gladly do it again.
Obama became Obama in part because his mother sent him to a Catholic elementary school & a private college prep school (Punahou School, also attended by Steve Case and Pierre Omidyar) When it came time to choose schools for his daughters, he chose private schools in Chicago & DC

Ironically they probably are bigger consumers of the Kennedy Center’s offerings than the trad posters in DC.
Goosebumps. For all its faults, Western Christian culture is still worth defending.

Republicans are going to have a real wake up call if they think culture wars will save them. Kitchen table issues will always trump culture wars, especially when diesel is being rationed and people are not making ends meet anymore.

I know what I’m playing with this weekend.
Palantir sells governments a war room that costs millions a year. So, a guy named Elie just rebuilt it, put it on GitHub, and gave it away. It's called World Monitor. Open it and you get a live 3D globe with 500+ news feeds pouring in across 15 categories, all summarized by AI as they land. > Military movements. > Economic shocks. > Natural disasters. > Cyber incidents. > Flight paths. > Shipping lanes. + 56 different map layers you can stack on top of each other. It scores 31 countries on a stress index and updates the number as things happen. It watches 29 stock exchanges, commodities, and crypto in one panel. It runs local AI through Ollama, so you can use the whole thing without a single API key. Native desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. 25 languages. Works out of the box after one clone.
