Half of writing in historical fiction is googling "When was X discovered/invented" and praying you can use the word you want isn't it

Unsolicited #amwrting Advice:
I am always thoroughly shocked to find a writer has given up on finding an agent after sending out only a handful of queries.
The average agented writer sent out at least 100 queries before they got an offer.
KEEP GOING.

I really don't understand hiring someone to query your novel. It's free to query. You don't need a middle man.

You have two choices when you read writing 'better' than your own.
1. You can sulk and tear yourself down
or
2. You can learn and be inspired.

1. The spice is called melange.
2. The spice confers power and longevity.
3. Melange is a French word for variety.
In other words, variety is the spice of life.
Why does no one ever talk about this?
