A beloved member of the University of New Haven community was killed in a head-on collision with a driver who is in the U.S. illegally, federal authorities have confirmed with Border Hawk.
The tragedy unfolded at around 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 16 in North Haven, Connecticut.
Ryan O’Shea, 21, was driving southbound on Interstate 91 when a pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction slammed into his Honda Accord, causing his vehicle to strike two SUVs, Connecticut State Police (CSP) explained in an accident summary.
O’Shea, who was on his way back to campus after playing in a hockey game, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, who suffered “serious life-threatening injuries,” was identified as 31-year-old Guillermo Carmona-Lopez, a resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
“In May 2013, Border Patrol arrested Carmona-Lopez, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, after he illegally entered the country. Carmona-Lopez was issued an expedited removal and was removed from the country,” the Department of Homeland Security told us.
“He then illegally reentered the country near the Rio Grande Valley after being removed—a felony—and was once again arrested by Border Patrol in May 2013. Carmona-Lopez was issued a final order of removal on May 30, 2013. He then reentered the country at an unknown time and place.”
It is currently unclear if Carmona-Lopez will face charges in connection with the crash.
A resident of Stony Point, New York, O’Shea served as senior assistant captain of the university’s club hockey team and also chapter president of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
He was studying criminal justice with a concentration in police science and aspired to work for the New York Police Department.
“Ryan was not only a great leader, but he was a caring friend to anyone around him. He always knew how to light up a room and make people laugh, no matter the time. Ryan’s leadership and the memories he has made will never be forgotten,” Kappa Sigma wrote in an Instagram post memorializing O’Shea.
Ryan’s sisters said he “always found a way to make everything positive.”
“He was always trying to go out of the way to help others and include them in new spaces if they didn’t know anyone,” Kiera O’Shea stated.

The FIOA request I submitted on July 8, 2025 to Lamont's office regarding his no-bid contract to Boston Consulting Group has been postponed. It was conveniently scheduled for the week after the elections. Now, the AG wants it rescheduled to December or January- because of likely upcoming election ligitation issues.
Did Lamont order the delay to protect his campaign? All contracts with BCG are scrubbed from the 'OpenContracts' website. So much for transparency.

A 2026 study trained an AI on 2,202 cancer papers that had been identified as fake. It then applied this model to look into 2.65 million original cancer research papers published between 1999 and 2024. It flagged 261,245 papers as fake
- Over 178,000 flagged papers had Chinese institutional affiliations
- Roughly 36% of Chinese cancer research output in the dataset
- Iran was next at around 20%
This is a major problem because this can mean the medical community amplifies completely fake research and findings

We demand justice. Anything less is a false hope joke on us. During COVID, our hospitals were transformed into government sanctioned/funded slaughterhouses, and it has been known for years… Is that too dark for an official senate hearing?
We need real investigations followed by justified executions or they will do it all again whenever they desire.

Dear Secretary of State,
I ask you to delay the mandatory addition of folic acid to non-wholemeal wheat flour, due to take effect on 13 December 2026, until an updated assessment of the benefits, possible harms and alternatives has been published and examined by Parliament. Adding folic acid to flour in essence is medicating the entire population without consent.
In 2025, approximately 649,525 babies were born alive in the UK, equivalent to 0.93% of the living population of 69,487,000. The proposed addition of folic acid to flour would expose consumers across the wider population on an ongoing basis to pursue a benefit measured against that annual number of live births. We ask ministers to publish how they weighed that difference in scale, including the potential effects of long-term exposure on older people, before the requirement begins.
I recognise the benefit of adequate folic acid before conception and in early pregnancy in reducing neural tube defects. I ask the government to compare mandatory flour fortification with a properly funded programme that helps women who may become pregnant obtain and take supplements in time. This comparison must address unplanned pregnancies: waiting until pregnancy is confirmed may be too late to prevent some neural tube defects.
Roughly 30-60% of the population has some variation of the MTHFR gene, which impairs their ability to convert synthetic folic acid into the active, usable form (L-5-MTHF). For these individuals, unconverted folic acid can build up in the bloodstream. This could represent a cancer and metabolic disease risk.
Given the present burden of cancer, I ask for a clear public account of how cancer-related research was assessed. NHS England recorded 354,820 new cancer diagnoses in England in 2023, 8,605 more than in 2022. Those figures do not show that folic acid causes cancer. They underscore the importance of examining any plausible concern before adding a further source of folic acid to widely eaten foods.
One randomised trial involving people with a previous colorectal adenoma found a higher occurrence of multiple adenomas during later follow-up among participants assigned 1 mg of folic acid daily. This dose and study population differ from the proposed flour policy. Please explain how the trial was assessed alongside the wider evidence when considering cancer risk.
I also ask you to examine the findings for postmenopausal women. In a study of 105 healthy postmenopausal women, researchers detected unmetabolised folic acid in 78% of fasting blood samples. Women with detectable unmetabolised folic acid had, on average, approximately 23% lower natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity in the laboratory test used by the researchers. NK cells help identify and destroy abnormal or infected cells. This was an observed association in one study; it did not establish that folic acid caused the difference or that the women developed cancer. It does, however, warrant an explicit assessment of immune measures and exposure in older women before the policy starts.
