I got to meet @RAKlein6 @LiveForLiteracy and @AvenCook in person to pick up my new books. We see each other monthly on a screen, but having a face to face conversation was so refreshing! Thank you for leading this important work. @JCPSDEP1 @GholdyM

@MedoraElem teachers diving into Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain. The more we learn together the more we grow together. Adding equitable pedagogy skills to our teacher backpacks is always a great way to spend some PD! #bookstudy @PrincipalPalme1 @JCPSAsstSuptES

3 years later. White educators, where you at? Still interested? Still curious? Still fighting?
To my white educators: Today, you’re posting about social justice, buying antiracist books, following brown folks, and temp changing your profile pictures. (thread) Here’s what I need you to do tomorrow:

Still trying to process the district getting rid of Reading Recovery/Literacy Lessons. The amount of knowledge and professional development that comes along with the program is unmatched and I am forever grateful for the experience. You can take away the program but not my brain!

Today, an emergency meeting was called for our Black Student Union to have a safe space to discuss the DOJ findings in the LMPD investigation. We recognize these conversations need to be had. It’s important than our students are educated, supported & heard.
