Divorced. Tired. Usually late.
Still showing up.
If you see me at a playdate drinking cold coffee and pretending I know what’s happening... mind your business. 🫡
I caught Magnolia’s finger gun with a smirk, one hand dropping to my belt as I gave an obnoxiously slow swivel of my hips.
“Too sober? Sounds like an excuse.”
Another lazy step, grin crooked.
“Come on, blondie. Keep up.”
I let out a low laugh at Disco Dad, completely unfazed.
“Yeah, that’s got a nice ring to it.”
I pointed both finger guns right back at Iris, leaned into the shuffle, and added a smooth little hip roll like I absolutely meant to look that ridiculous.
“Keep talking, Holloway.
I abandoned the moonwalk before I pulled something important and switched gears, rolling my shoulders into a loose little ’70s shuffle instead. A few side steps, a ridiculous hip sway, then I pointed finger-guns at the group like I’d just wandered straight out of a disco.

Late. Of course I was late.
Dropping the kids off at their mother’s had turned into the usual three-ring circus... somebody forgot something, somebody suddenly needed a snack, and apparently leaving the house required a full congressional hearing.
By the time I finally found the group, they were already in the middle of a dance battle.
Perfect.
I didn’t bother announcing myself. I just slid straight into the open space with the ugliest moonwalk I could manage,
I cared in way I knew how, which was badly. Greedy. With both hands around her ankles, begging her not to crawl out of the same hole I had made a home in.
I cared enough to show up. Not enough to let her leave. There was a difference. A mean one. 》
