A minor (maybe left wing) Fusion Party, seem to make mostly good arguments on FB and seem to be more sophisticated and articulate than the greens or the socialists (Squatters party)

If everyone on NYC mass transit switched to driving: ~1.28B trips/yr → 24/7 gridlock.
Drivers already waste $9.5k/yr sitting in traffic (~$15k in Manhattan).
Transit isn’t subsidized by drivers, transit is the only thing that makes driving possible. 🚇🚗💸

I fear next week's Twitter cabbie meltdown over Oxford Street's pedestrianisation will be apocalyptic. In 3 months' time, no one will care and will wonder why it wasn't done years ago
Remember the outrage when they removed cars from Trafalgar Square? Aldwych? Now, no one cares

Deregulate quantity, not quality.
Replying to @hecubian_devil
The way NIMBYs throw the word "deregulation" around you'd think the main fight in housing was over bringing back asbestos insulation instead of whether a single-family homeowner should be able to build an apartment building under a basically otherwise unchanged regulatory regime
So motorists talk about the disabled and their need for parking 🅿️. Fair enough although would be great if able bodied people didn’t steal their parking spaces

If you’re a member of the Liberal party you should write to your MPs to ask what’s going on here.
Adding apartment buildings around the three(!) new Metro stations in the Drummoyne electorate shows “contempt” for it apparently.
basically the LNP/On campaign especially where they get outraged about debt and if they keep their promises (which they won’t as it will be impossible to repay debt with their tax cuts and spending promises)

Hopefully this is the start of a lot pf sensible and much needed upgrades to the existing rail network. Much of which was neglected under the previous government

A reminder that Sydney's just opened secondary airport is beating Melbourne Airport on PT access to surrounding suburbs. More, including a plan to better connect Melbourne Airport, here:

Local councils are excessively obstructionist.
95% of refusals that are appealed are overturned.
"Local control" is code for stopping new homes.

Calling a corrugated iron shed in a Geelong sheep paddock a 'competing international airport' is elite levels of Melbourne cope
Over the SRL construction period it will cost trillions.
Yeah that’s the cost of car dependency. SRL won’t convert every driver to PAT but a solid all round investment will save consumers and govt and corporates. Billions per year.
I didn’t think about this, but Nimbys are one of the culprits for causing sprawl threatening our green wedges and countryside, virtue signalling pricks

“SRL is too expensive, debt, bankruptcy, end of the world“ 😫
Sprawl costs govt $2000 more per annum (indefinitely) not incl cost of car dependency and apparently thats a small price to pay (and it certainly doesn’t make housing more affordable).

My reasons re-tweeting:
1. ❤️ @metrodesantiago
2. Improving PT isn’t the terrain of only ‘progressives’. Hell, in Chile even a dictatorship thought it important
3. Since opening, it’s still dev: 7 lines + 2 in dev
4. Why such little commitment to improving PT in Vic?
