When i was a kid, my dad used to embarrass me on purpose.
We'd be walking through a mall...
Eating at a restaurant...
Or at a county fair...
And he'd look at me and say,
"Dance."
Right there.
In front of everyone.
As a kid, I thought he was crazy. I would get so mad.
Years later, I finally understood what he was doing.
He wasn't trying to embarrass me.
He was teaching me not to fear embarrassment...
And not worry what others thought of me.
Because the moment you become afraid of what other people think...
You become a prisoner.
You stop taking chances.
You stop expressing yourself.
You stop becoming the person you're capable of being.
I've seen it in my own life.
The times I struggled the most...in baseball and in life...I was usually worried about everyone else's opinion.
My coach... my teammates
The times I performed my best...
I didn't care.
I was free.
Now I see the same thing with some of the players I coach.
They're talented enough.
But they're afraid of looking bad.
They're afraid of failing.
They're afraid of what everyone else might think.
So here's the lesson my dad passed down to me...
And now I'm passing it down to you:
The life you want is usually on the other side of embarrassment.
The next time you have a decision to make, ask yourself:
"Am I choosing this because it's right... or because I'm afraid of what other people will think?"
Choose courage.
It changes everything.
Thank you for reading.

If your kid missed a playoff game for the prom and was dismissed from the team.
Do this.
Schedule a meeting with the athletic director and principal.
Walk in their office with your game face on.
Thank them for hiring a coach that held your kid accountable.
Tell them you have raised your kid to believe he can do whatever, whenever, however he wants and you're thankful the coach expected him to be a great teammate.

Baseball is a life lesson in disguise.
You’ll fail. A lot.
You won’t control the outcome.
You’ll get humbled fast.
But if you stick with it…
You learn discipline.
You learn toughness.
You learn how to respond.
That’s why the game matters ⚾️💯

Hitters
Be Smart.
0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 swings need to be exactly what you're looking for, exactly where you're looking for it, and you need to be locked in enough to put your best swing on it.
0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 outs on shitty swings are game changers.
They feed pitchers.
Elite pitchers want you swinging, and they want you swinging a lot.
They can't stand disciplined hitters that force pitch counts.
Great hitters walk a lot.
Because they refuse to help pitchers get them out.

This is a great example of having the right approach & good mechanics yet you still fall just short. This game is hard! Proud of this at bat, one tick away from likely an RBI double in LF corner…ends working a walk. Good at bat Flipp! #hotbats #SillimanBaseball #classof2027
