4. Nazem's parade through London tmrw begins @LondonMosque b/c 'I've been going there since I was a kid. Friday prayers is obviously something that we were involved in. It's just nice to be able to do something different. Most of this is for the younger generation + the kids.'

Three positions on cutting nails/hair during the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah:
1) 100% OK - Hanifi
2) Not recommended - Shafi'i
3) Not allowed, sinful if you do so - Hanbali
Thus it isn't necessary to refrain from cutting/removing hair or nails for those intending to sacrifice.

1. This is a piece of drywall from Yumnah Afzaal’s garage. Yumnah was an artist + had been commissioned to create a mural for the Islamic School. Her parents let her practice her spray painting technique in the family garage. Yumnah was killed a year ago today b/c she was Muslim.

June 6, 2022, is the one-year anniversary when our community lost several members of “Our London Family.” It caused lasting harm to our Muslim community, to the family’s friends and loved ones, and to our city and nation as a whole. The Afzaal’s will forever be #OurLondonFamily.

Today I had the honour of reciting a passage from the Qur'an and making a presentation on Islam at the Wesley-Knox United Church in London. The chance to chat with the congregants was also really great.
I'd like to thank Reverend Dr Abiel K and David K for the opportunity.

I strongly condemn this horrifying act of violence. For our country to achieve its full potential, every Canadian must feel free to worship freely and safely. My thoughts go out to all impacted.
#UPDATE: A 24-year-old man has been arrested after he entered a mosque in Mississauga armed with a hatchet and discharged bear spray at worshippers.

I am incredibly grateful for their heroism, and my heart goes out to the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre community who were attacked this morning.
There is NO place in our province for such evil and hateful acts. We must ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The attack on congregants at the Dar Al-Tawheed Islamic Centre is incredibly disturbing. I strongly condemn this violence – which has no place in Canada – and I’m keeping the community in my thoughts today. I also want to applaud the courage of those who were there this morning.
