This from @kernelbrewery last night was cracking… Crisp, fresh, dry. Citric - lemon and white grapefruit - a bit chalky, light soda bread. Light and gluggable. A few light apricot hints. Very much a table beer!

Retrieved another of these @thornbridge gems from the stash; no longer as fresh as it once was - “that’s on me”, as an LLM might say! - but still absolutely cracking. Such rich, resinous, bitter-citric, oily, subtly sweet orange…or more specifically, satsuma! 👌
Dug another of these out; so crisp, fresh, juicy, bitter. Went perfectly with chilli! @thornbridge

Completely unsuited to this weekend’s weather, but we did get a glimpse of sun this afternoon, and surely the summer will return again…one day?! Delicious from @BrewDog’s ‘Liquid Visions’ imprint; loads of melon, peach, coconut. Creamy, too.

(Though people may have their own views on whether a BrewDog beer should say so openly on the front, instead of giving the appearance of being a ‘less macro’ brand…)

TBH, this is neither my favourite Bunna nor my favourite Siggy…an earthy, vegetal, wet-wood note that I struggle to see past…but it was <£50, at cask(ish) strength and integrity bottled, and it’s all useful palate-learning… So, no regrets. And, it’s still tastily interesting!

A modern classic - and one of my all-time faves - from @thornbridge. Plus all that grapefruit counts as one of your five, right?!
Another of these @thornbridge worldies from deep in the (troublingly mild) garage stash tonight… Still - and always - delicious, despite being older and less coldly stored than connoisseurs would advise!

A cracker here from @FullersBrewery! Part of last year’s Christmas stockpile, a furry friend clearly had a go at the neck while it lived in the garage… Serious secondary fermentation in the bottle! But still rich bonfire toffee, malt loaf, Christmas cake, pumpernickel. Yum! 👌

(Again, think this meets the spirit of #Stouturday, if not the exact definition… Dark, creamy, toffeed!)

Uncanny…turns out, I resorted to one of these this exact same weekend last year! And under the same circumstances; howling wind, cold rain, leaden skies… Customarily delicious from @FullersBrewery; full of raisins, rich toffee, dark fruit cake, spiced orange, dark sherry. 👌
Such a chewy, toffeed, raisin-monster from @FullersBrewery. Rich, creamy, and boozy; sticky Christmas cake in ale form! Epic…and just the ticket for a cold, dark, dank autumn evening!

(And no, I didn’t realise the overlap when I retrieved one from the garage stash…)

P.S. Not exactly compliant with the rules of #Stouturday, but certainly conforms to the spirit, i.e. rich, thick, and savoury-sweet… 👌

A couple of days late - trying not to succumb to constant midweek drinking’s delicious allure - but the only choice for a Traf Night earlier!

This is a really interesting malt from @TheGlenmorangie… Would’ve never bought it myself, as I feared it’d be some monstrous gin-whisky hybrid (all that kilned juniper etc). But having been bought it as a present, pleased I was. Remarkably distinctive, and it works too.
A very thoughtful present here from Mrs LowWhines: an experimental @TheGlenmorangie expression I’ve always been curious to try (as an incorrigible Glenmo fan from early on the ‘journey’)… Reactions to follow on some future date…for now, it needs to be sipped and pondered!

(Maybe there’s hope for aromatic smoke even if/when environmental concerns force the whisky industry away from using peat…though TBH, my own Caol Ila loch is comfortably deep enough to see out my natural life…and indeed, to shorten it too! 🤣)

P.S. But of course, if you really do hate gin because of all the juniper and other botanicals, then this isn’t the malt for you!

Another of these from @ExeterBrewery tonight. Lovely stuff.
An absolutely quintessential stout here from @ExeterBrewery… Dark chocolate, savoury coffee, lightly smoked meatiness. Masses of roasty-toasty malt, with a decently smooth texture, set against some subtlety woody bitterness. #Stouturday

Errr, what I said last week… Always a @BuxtonBrewery treat!
A travesty to see a beer this good on supermarket clearance, but my wallet was the lucky winner! Delicious as always from @BuxtonBrewery…

Another of these @BuxtonBrewery icons to start the weekend - always a cracker - happy Friday, malt mates!
A current staple; just so good. Please keep it coming, @BuxtonBrewery!

Cheers @Morrighani for highlighting how Carlsberg-Britvic have destroyed our much loved British brewing heritage.🍻👍👏🤬

Another of these from @ExeterBrewery tonight. Really excellent; crisp, clean, and just the right balance between a touch of biscuity malt sweetness and fresh piney-citric hopping.
An excellent, sessionable evening-starter here from @ExeterBrewery… Crisp, fresh, savoury, balanced. Gently bitter hopping, subtle malty sweetness, smooth breadiness, a touch of orangey citrus. Quality.
