🚨 “The #CAP is secured”? Look at the numbers. The EU’s future #budget tells a very different story for European agriculture. 📉 CAP funding remains under pressure, agricultural crisis funding is at risk, and investment in competitiveness is being cut. 🌾 Europe cannot claim to strengthen its food sovereignty while failing to secure the resources farmers need. @FarmEurope calls for political commitments to be translated into concrete budget decisions. It’s time to move from rhetoric to action. 🔗 Read our full press release: farm-europe.eu/news/eu-budge… #CAP #EUBudget #EUAgri #FoodSovereignty #FarmEurope

📊 As the @Europarl_EN debates the next #MFF 2028-2034, the numbers matter, but so does what lies behind them : choices for the future of Europe, including the future of our food and our farmers. Today, MEPs asked for an ambitious EU budget to deliver on Europe’s priorities, including competitiveness, resilience and security. Agriculture has a key role to play in delivering on all three. Against this backdrop, @FarmEurope's CAP 2028–2034 Budget Simulator shows the concrete implications of the choices currently on the table : the initial proposal from the @EU_Commission is unsustainable for the EU farming sector. It would lead to a massive restructuration of the EU agricultural sector and accelerate the loss of agricultural sovereignty. With the negotiators trying to create a momentum to try to conclude in December, understanding the concrete implications of the different options is now more crucial than ever. The interactive tool allows to model different configurations of the future #CAP, from the size of the ring-fenced CAP envelope and Member State co-financing to the allocation of funds across interventions, and to see how these choices translate at EU, Member State and farm level. 👉 Explore the CAP 2028–2034 Budget Simulator: farm-europe.eu/wp-content/up… #MFF #CAP #EUbudget #CommonAgriculturalPolicy #FoodSecurity #FarmEurope #EUBudget

Good news for the climate & farmers engaged in carbon farming projects. The methodology proposed by the Commission is not rejected by @EP_Environment. While not perfect this certification framework provides a first basis for moving forward, which can be improved step by step as the Commission should come back with an update of #CRCF.

Together with @GiorgiaMeloni 🇮🇹, we united 17 Friends of Cohesion EU Member States around a common objective: preserving Agriculture and Cohesion as central priorities in the next European budget, while ensuring adequate resources to address Europe’s new challenges. We strongly believe this is doable – and we addressed a joint letter to @MichealMartinTD 🇮🇪 as Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026 @Ireland2026eu, ahead of the next steps in the MFF negotiations.

🚜📈 Europe’s food sovereignty is under pressure. The latest @FarmEurope Sustainability and Sovereignty Radar reveals a mixed picture: while environmental indicators continue to improve, Europe’s traditional agricultural strengths are eroding. Europe remains a major agricultural power, but declining trade surpluses, falling farm incomes and the continued loss of farms are narrowing its production capacity. At the same time, progress in areas such as emissions, pesticide use and biogas production shows that positive transitions are underway. 🌱 The challenge now is to rebuild Europe’s productive capacity while pursuing a sustainable transition. 👉 Read the full press release and explore the 2026 Radar: farm-europe.eu/news/farm-eur… #FoodSovereignty #EuropeanAgriculture #FoodSecurity #EUAgri #CAP #FarmEurope #FoodSystems #Bioeconomy

🌾🇪🇺 European agriculture on the brink of collapse Geopolitical tensions, soaring input costs and increasingly severe climate pressures are exposing the vulnerabilities of Europe’s agricultural production systems. During today’s exchange with Agriculture Commissioner @CHansenEU , Farm Europe called for a new approach: doing both short-term crisis management that is urgently needed AND at the same time buildling a long-term European plan for agricultural growth, investment and resilience. This means supporting farmers’ cash flow, strengthening production capacity, unlocking investment, developing new markets and putting agriculture back at the heart of Europe’s strategic choices. As Yves Madre, President of @FarmEurope, stressed: “The current growing seasons mark a tipping point.” Read the full press release 👉 farm-europe.eu/news/climate-… #EuropeanAgriculture #Agriculture #CAP #FoodSecurity #Farmers #ClimateChange #EU

Europe wants to be sovereign. But what about its food? 🌾🇪🇺 Today’s State of the Union speech spoke of a stronger, more autonomous Europe. Yet Europe’s agricultural reality tells another story. 📉 4 million hectares of cereals lost 🐄 26 million livestock heads lost since 2019 🌱 1.4 million farmers lost 📈 +21% protein-rich feed imports These are not just numbers. They are signals of growing dependencies and a weakening European agricultural base. Europe cannot build strategic autonomy while turning its back on the sector that feeds its citizens, sustains rural territories and contributes to energy, bioeconomy and industrial value chains. Words are good. Deeds are better. Europe needs a clear plan for farmers — and a Common Agricultural Policy strong enough to deliver it. 👉 Read @FarmEurope's full reaction to the #SOTEU2026: farm-europe.eu/news/soteu-20… #SOTEU2026 #Agriculture #CAP #FoodSecurity #StrategicAutonomy #EuropeanAgriculture #Farmers #FoodSovereignty

Many of us remember bad food at school — public procurement pulling against the direction of public policy, too often serving imported food produced via lower standards. But change is under way. After years of mobilisation by farmers, local initiatives — sometimes in small towns and regions, sometimes in capitals — the European Commission is finally taking a first important step: the Public Procurement Act proposal sets out a framework allowing food contracts to take account of freshness, seasonality and the way supply chains are organised, including their local dimension. It is not yet mandatory, and it does not yet address ultra-processed food. But it is an important step forward. We now urgently need a clear EU definition of UPF, so that this too can become a criterion in public procurement contracts. It is now clearly established that those products have major negative consequences for the health of Europeans. Time to act !
What if public money could do more for public health? Public procurement is one of the most powerful tools available to public authorities to shape healthier, higher-quality food systems. That is why @FarmEurope and @eateurope welcome the inclusion of a specific provision on food in the proposed Public Procurement Act — while calling for greater ambition. 🍎 Fresh, seasonal, quality food should not be optional. 🏫 Schools and hospitals should be leading the way. 🥩 Short supply chains and minimally processed foods should be prioritised. 🚫 We need effective tools to address the growing challenge of ultra-processed foods (UPFs). The scale of public procurement means that the choices made today can directly influence the diets and health of millions of European citizens. The next step is clear: move beyond a predominantly voluntary approach and ensure that public procurement rules put public health and the public interest at the heart of food procurement. From words to action on water and agriculture 💧🌾 Today, @FarmEurope brought the discussion on Europe’s growing water challenge to the European Parliament. Against the backdrop of increasingly frequent droughts and extreme weather events, the conversation focused on a key question: how can Europe move from political commitments to concrete action to strengthen the resilience, productivity and competitiveness of its agriculture? A big thank you to @CarmenCrespoPP, MEP, for hosting the event and opening the discussion, and to @LucVERNET, Secretary General of Farm Europe, for presenting our latest study and analysis. We were also delighted to bring together @letiziamoratti, MEP; Gaelle Marion, Head of Unit AGRI B2; Adriano Battilani, Secretary General of Irrigants d’Europe; @cduroc, General Director of AGPM – Maiz’EUROP’; Claudia Albani, Coldiretti; and @JMCASTILLABARO, ASAJA, for a rich and constructive exchange on the challenges and solutions ahead. The message from today’s discussion was clear: water management is no longer a question for the future — it is a priority for the resilience of European agriculture today. Thank you to all our speakers, participants and partners for contributing to such an important debate. #Agriculture #WaterManagement #EuropeanAgriculture #EUAgri #Water #FoodSecurity #Resilience

💧 Europe’s water crisis is no longer a warning. It is a reality. From droughts to extreme heat and increasingly unpredictable water cycles, European agriculture is already facing a new climate reality. The question is no longer if water will become a strategic challenge for farming — but whether Europe is ready to respond. 🚜 What does this mean for the future of European agriculture? 💦 How can farmers adapt to changing water cycles? 🇪🇺 And where is Europe’s strategy to ensure water security, resilience and competitiveness? We need to move from reacting to emergencies to building long-term solutions. Join Farm Europe for a timely discussion on Water Management and the Future of European Agriculture, hosted by MEP @CarmenCrespoPP 📅 8 September 2026 🕠 17:30–19:00 📍 European Parliament, Brussels 👉 Join the discussion: forms.gle/X51dzyGcNtr8cE4E6 #Water #EuropeanAgriculture #Agriculture #Drought #WaterManagement #CAP #EU #FarmEurope #ClimateResilience
