Can blackheads become infected?
Blackheads are not necessarily infected lesions.
However, when the blocked follicle becomes inflamed, acne-associated bacteria, particularly Cutibacterium acnes, can contribute to inflammation.

Blackheads removal

Generally a blackhead is a type of acne (comedonal acne) that develops when a hair follicle or skin pore becomes clogged with excess sebum (natural skin oil), dead skin cells and debris.
Why are they black?
Blackheads are called open comedones because the clogged pore remains open at the skin surface.
When the contents of the pore are exposed to air, they undergo oxidation, producing the characteristic dark or black appearance.
Important: The black colour is not dirt.
What causes blackheads?
Excessive sebum production.
Accumulation of dead skin cells.
Hormonal changes.
Certain oily skincare products.
Genetic predisposition.
