@johnrich on the dedicated force of wickedness out to get Christians, and how important it is for Christians to know their Bible and not succumb to “lukewarm, pablum, baby food” Christianity.

A big argument for the federal government in defending the NFA has been that registration is no big deal, a modest burden at most on the Second Amendment.
While in my view even a limited delay violates the Second Amendment and is not supported by historical tradition (nor is registration), it is true that the ATF speeding up processing so much in recent years, plus also the upcoming elimination of the $200 tax, has mitigated concerns a bit.
But all of that mitigation goes out the window if processing simply ceases anytime the government shuts down. And it's not as if shutdowns are all that uncommon.
Remember, the federal government has recently conceded that things like suppressors do enjoy some degree of Second Amendment protection, they just think the NFA doesn't infringe on that right. But if they are effectively banning the sale of suppressors for the time being, that's a pretty huge problem for that argument.

While the harvest is ripe, for whatever reason, NOW is the time to intentionally invite people to attend your weekly worship service with you. It would be weird to pray for a revival in the hearts of men, or a great awakening of spiritual sobriety and need for Jesus, and not realize the Bible specifically tells all followers of Jesus: go and make disciples. We are who God intends to use for Kingdom growth. In this era of boldness, don’t be ashamed to invite people to church.

You have no idea how many of us have come back to faith,
How many of us once thought exactly like you.
How many of us deeply we rolled our eyes at those Jesus freaks.
How many of us would rather have drunk turpentine than read a Bible.
How many of us were lost in the conversion to Vatican 2 and whatever the Protestants were doing in the 80’s and 90’s. How ambivalent we became.
We watch society get crushed by liberals around us but we had no tools to fight back against being called racists and fascists. So we did nothing but stew.
But then we discovered a simple, undeniable fact: Jesus is the only antidote to Marxism.
Because Marxism was really designed to destroy Christ, not just to kill the Church, but to destroy every political system built on His teachings—teachings that are the foundation of Western civilization itself.
So we bought Bibles. And they sat there. We felt sick even looking at them. Public education had drilled into us: boring, outdated, irrelevant. CCD and Sunday school before we left the church only taught is how to be nice.
We didn’t want to be nice. We wanted ro CRUSH YOU.
Then something happened. A son, a daughter, a spouse, a friend asked us to come to church. And something resonated. Deeply. So we cracked open that “boring” old Bible.
And it wasn’t boring at all. It was alive. It was fascinating. It was truth. Universal truth.
We started small: prayer, rosary, confession, Bible study, a small pilgrimage… each of us did something different but we all got sucked in.
And then something else happened:
A fog lifted.
We loved our kids more.
We supported our wives more.
We spent more time at home.
We had deeper conversations with friends.
We turned off the porn, cut back on drinking, went outside.
Our lives improved.
Let me repeat that:
Our lives improved. Markedly.
At first, we still thought other denominations were nuts. Born-again Christians? Crazy. Pentecostals speaking in tongues? Weird. Methodists banning beer? Absurd. And don’t even get me started on the Mormons. (And yes, they thought we Catholics were the craziest of the bunch)
But then we started sharing what had happened in our lives.
Words like Jesus accidentally slipped into conversations and we discovered exactly what you did today,
People from other denominations opened up about their own transformations.
We were all happy. We all felt loved. Our minds were clearer. We were more mentally stable. Stronger. Better.
Our lives improved.
Again: our lives improved.
We did hit a wall, though. The texts felt too simple. Too practical. We wanted more intellectual meat. So we dug into the writings of theologians, philosophers, scholars. And it blew our minds.
Now we could sit across from brilliant atheists and hold our own. Our arguments landed. Our ideas stood tall. Sure, we stripped out “Jesus” in those conversations so you’d actually listen—but we ran laps around you.
And here’s the thing: we hesitated to admit it. Because we knew you’d call us crazy. We knew because, we were you. We thought like you. We lived like you.
Then Charlie was shot. And just like that, I stopped caring what you think.
So yes, you ARE surrounded by “Jesus freaks.”
Worse? We really do believe.
Worse still? We know exactly how you think and operate.
And here’s the fatal flaw in your worldview:
We love Jesus. That love has made us better, stronger, freer. But that’s the side benefit.
We didn’t seek Him just for personal peace.
We sought Him TWO YEARS AGO because we realized Marxism is a rot designed to collapse everything we love about the West.
And Jesus is the only power strong enough to counter your BS.
We didn’t find Him just to save ourselves. We found him to CRUSH YOU
And now? Now we’re unstoppable. Because He gave us what you can’t understand—love, discipline, clarity, purpose.
But don’t worry, buttercup. We don’t want to crush you personally anymore, just your movement.
We actually love you now and want you to find Jesus too!!

Last night I heard my first Ruffed Grouse drumming of the spring season. Yes, grouse frequently drum at night, which I find odd. The drumming sound is made as the bird strikes the air with its wings vigorously enough to create a brief vacuum, causing a miniature sonic boom.

Year ago had a blood test with 258 cholesterol and was 30 lbs overweight. Started the Stock Cropper diet in late July eating 80% of my diet from pork, chicken and eggs that I raised and filled the remaining 20% with vegetables. Cut out 95% of beer. Sipped Tito’s and whiskey instead. Walked and worked out 3-4 times a week. Lost 29 lbs from July through end of harvest. Maintained a net 23 lb loss through the slow season of winter so far. Yesterday got a new blood test that showed 52 point drop in total cholesterol. #getbusyliving

We can mine within reason. We can harvest timber responsibly. We can extract oil and gas responsibly. None of these industries need to be destructive to the environment. We can learn from mistakes of the past and manage extraction like civilized people.
