🇺🇸🇰🇷Tomorrow Morse Tan, a former U.S. Ambassador and American citizen, has a hearing in South Korea that could put him in a Korean jail.
All because he repeated public reports about President Lee while speaking in Washington, D.C. last year.
They have held him with an exit ban for months, even blocking him from his own grandmother’s funeral. This is an ally prosecuting an American for speech made on American soil. It is ridiculous and should not be happening.
Washington needs to step in and make Lee Jae-myung pay.
Is our judiciary turning around?

I’m American obviously but… In what clown world does a president get to pick Choi Kil-su as the final investigator to investigate his own family?
Why?
1. Lee Jae-myung chose Choi, a former prosecutor, and Choi’s job is to look at the president’s wife, relatives, and top aides. That is the opposite of independent oversight.
2. Choi reports the results straight back to the same president who appointed him. Good luck getting a hard report out of that setup.
3. The law deliberately leaves the president himself off limits. So the person with the most power is the one person Choi is not allowed to touch.
4. This exact system was created under Park Geun-hye in 2014 and she appointed the first one. It stayed empty for a decade after that. Not exactly a track record of working.
5. The National Assembly recommends names and both parties sign off on the confirmation. That is basically a uniparty process. The final pick still belongs to the president whose own family and aides are the target, so the conflict never actually gets fixed.
Let’s look at Ilhan Omar’s (or whatever her name is) marriage and kids timeline.
February 12, 2009: Legal marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi(probably her brother)
June 2012: Birth of Ilwad Hirsi (while still legally married to Elmi).
December 4, 2017: Legal divorce from Elmi finalized.
January 5, 2018: Legal marriage to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi.

The state wants him tried as an ADULT.
On September 1st, Judge Veronica Galván kept him locked up and called him “a threat to community safety" but then when the hype went away... yesterday she let him go.
Electronic home monitoring. At his dad’s house. Online school.
Her reason?
SELF-DEFENSE.
Prosecutors told the court he’s a danger to the community. She sent him home anyway.

This isn’t the first time.
In December 2024, Judge Galván released a 17-year-old robbery suspect WITHOUT BAIL, over prosecutors’ objections.
FIFTEEN DAYS later, prosecutors say he and another teen lured a 14-year-old to a park in Everett, tied him to a tree, and ST*BBED him EIGHT TIMES.

The unjust detention of Morse Tan
Ambassador Morse Tan is an American citizen has been stuck in South Korea since late May under an exit ban.
He went there for what was supposed to be a short one-week trip at the end of May into early June. It is now late October.
In a rare interview since they locked him in the country, he made clear there is nothing legal, nothing fair, and nothing just about any of this. The whole thing started over remarks he made on American soil in Washington.
This is unheard of treatment of a U.S. citizen by a supposed ally. There will be ramifications!
🇰🇷South Korea’s National Assembly just floated reviewing a full domestic block on X by year-end unless drug and prostitution ads vanish, with the media regulator chair agreeing and calling for legal measures.
This is not enforcement against crime but a direct threat to shut down the one platform where Koreans still speak freely about their own government.
Lee Jae-myung and the forces aligned with Beijing’s playbook are treating open debate the same way authoritarian regimes do, using public-order excuses to choke the last independent channel.
Blocking an entire platform is how China and its partners silence dissent. Koreans and their allies abroad should reject this outright before the precedent is set.
