Music at Marlborough

Huge congratulations to Old Marlburian, Helena M, who has been appointed Principal Oboe of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and to current pupil, Lottie V, who has been appointed a member of the viola section of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

World class viola player and Marlborough’s Artistic Director, Philip Dukes, adjusts to playing a rare Stradivarius viola in preparation for his recording with the National Symphony Orchestra. This an extraordinary school with extraordinarily talented pupils and staff.

Congratulations to the Music Department on a wonderful Strings and Orchestra concert this week. Particular mention goes to talented violinist Allegra H who delighted her audience with a moving performance of the 2nd movement of Bruch's Violin Concerto.

Amber Trust patron, Derek Paravicini, his teacher, Adam Ockelford, and Upper Sixth pupil, Poppy M, have just given @MarlboroughCol the most inspiring Sunday morning concert.

Thank you to our wonderful Music Scholars, Mr Dukes, Miss Toomer and the staff of the Music Department for a dazzling concert at the Royal Academy of Music. An exciting and varied repertoire and with incredible playing and singing.

Many thanks to our superb Chapel Choir for all that they do for our community week in week out. Another busy weekend for them with May Day Madrigals, a breathtaking Chapel Service and the thoroughly enjoyable Choir Dinner.

A wonderful way to start the Christmas Season. With thanks to our Chaplain, Choir, Choirmaster, Organist, Readers and Congregations at our four Carol Services this weekend.

Thank you to the Chaplain, the Choir, our pupil readers, Mr Meehan-Staines, Mr Butterfield and Mr Finlay for two very special Advent services held for our Upper Sixth year group this evening. A poignant reminder of what is important in our community.
