OFFICIAL UPDATE: THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF CANADA REMAINS DEREGISTERED I wanted to take a moment to provide everyone with an important update regarding the Libertarian Party of Canada and our efforts to get the party registered again with Elections Canada. Unfortunately, despite collecting hundreds of signed membership declarations, we fell just short of receiving the 250 confirmations required by Elections Canada. As a result, we will have to submit another application for registration. First and foremost, I want to thank every single person who took the time to sign a declaration, help collect signatures, or support our efforts. We came incredibly close, and I genuinely appreciate the work that went into getting us this far. For those who have already signed, there is some good news. Elections Canada has confirmed that we can reuse your previously signed membership declarations. You do not need to complete another form at this time. However, when we submit our next application, you may receive another verification request from Elections Canada. If you do, please respond, even if you already completed the verification process previously. I also want to take some personal responsibility for this delay. As Deputy Leader, I was pushing our executive team to get the party registered as quickly as possible. I wanted us to have the opportunity to participate in Alberta's referendum and the federal by elections taking place across the country. Looking back, I believe I was rushing the process more than I should have. While we still managed to participate in these events individually, and some of our candidates ran as independents, I recognize that we could have approached registration more carefully. That's something I've learned from, and I intend to do better moving forward. So, what's next? Our executive team has agreed to take a different approach this time. Rather than rushing to meet the minimum requirements, we're setting ourselves a much more ambitious goal of collecting at least 1,000 membership declarations before submitting our next application to Elections Canada. We want to accomplish this before the end of 2026, but we are not working toward an immediate submission deadline. This also gives us an opportunity to do something I've wanted to see for quite some time: rebuild the party itself. We're going to spend this time strengthening our internal organization, reconnecting with supporters, working with the provincial libertarian party's, recruiting future candidates, and ensuring that we're properly prepared for the next federal election. I don't want us to simply get registered again. I want us to become a serious political organization capable of staying registered, running candidates, and representing Canadians who believe in individual liberty, free markets, property rights, smaller government and for a fair deal for Alberta. And I intend to remain fully committed to making that happen. If you're interested in becoming a member, volunteering, helping collect declarations, or getting involved with the party in your province, please reach out to me directly either here on X or at [email protected] To everyone who has supported us throughout this process, thank you. I know this setback is frustrating, especially for those who have already gone through the registration process with us. But we're not finished. We've got a party to rebuild, and I'm looking forward to getting back to work. Long live liberty, damn it! Michael Harris Deputy Leader, Libertarian Party of Canada

Our debt IS out of control, it doesn't matter if it's smaller than other countries. You guys have been running a deficit and taking on debt for decades now with no plan to pay it back. You have doomed the next generation to debt slavery!
Pierre Poilievre has started saying "debt is out of control". Governments do need to be careful about the debt they bring on. But here's some important context as Canada diversifies trade, builds big and supports affordability.

The Libertarian Party of Canada held its leadership race earlier this year. And we are the only federal party where its leadership stands for the autonomy and liberty of all provinces across this country, including Alberta!
When's the Alberta Republican Party holding a leadership race? I know they have been swamped with all that work they did in the referendum, but they must be ready to embrace rapid growth now right?

I fully support the Libertarians and their Deputy Leader, @MH_For_MP. A well-spoken and dedicated young individual who genuinely cares about our future. I don't care what happens next or how long it takes, as long as we stay true to our values and never lose sight of why we started.

The BC conservatives are going to have a majority government in BC. They better lock in on this mandate and not mess it up.

I recently joined @CoryBMorgan on the Western Standard to discuss my experience as a scrutineer during Alberta's October 19 referendum, the problems I personally witnessed with Elections Alberta, and the growing political movement on university campuses. After spending over a year involved in the referendum, I think it's important to talk openly about what went wrong on voting day and what needs to improve. A big thank you to Cory and the Western Standard for inviting me on and giving me the opportunity to share my perspective! Watch the full discussion here: youtube.com/watch?v=vCrMqTOV…

Just a point of mention here, I am in no way attacking all of the Elections Alberta staff that were present at the location. I saw a lot of people that were doing some really good work and put in almost as much work as I was doing, with no breaks as well too. However, the incompetence, especially from the senior staff, was on full display. And I'm fully ready to call them all out on it.

I just got off my shift of being a scrutinier with the UCP for this referendum and let me tell you there has been some major incompetence on display today with Elections Alberta. Not only were they criminally understaffed, and they were rushing things through but that was causing issues with long lineups and the staff we're not checking things properly like ids, and we're just waving people through. I caught three different people on PR getting through the registration desk and we're about to be handed the ballots. The site supervisor was also yelling and berating staff publicly, and was actively swatting them, which I would call physical assault. I ultimately accept the results that come from tonight. But to accept that Elections Alberta is competent enough to run this referendum is an absolute understatement.
