We think the facts are clear: On 7/17, senior managers professionally and privately raised concerns to the executive team. On 7/22, unionized staff separately raised similar concerns to the board. On 7/24, the #FiredFour were told to resign or be fired. What facts are we missing?

We know first hand that this is true.
nonprofits love to be like we're a "family" until you organize a union.
The Board for @MDLegalAid is doing nothing to assist in this matter. They were contacted by MDLAB alum and the union and they have done nothing to help. They have chosen to remain silent during this time.
I wonder if they will send out a pointless press release in the middle of the night to deflect from answering why the #FIREDFOUR was terminated??? @MDLegalAid #reinstatementnow #safety4MDLAB
The Executive Team led by Wilhelm Joseph and Gusty Taler have hidden from the public during this time. They continue to stay silent and not address why these employees were fired for standing up for their staff during a pandemic.#FIREDFOUR #safety4MDLAB #Reinstatementnow
These quotes from Gusty and Gina Polley are exactly why the organization is being mismanaged. A lack of compassion and care for its employees and clients. #Firedfour #SafetyforMDLAB #Reinstatementnow
“You can tell your people that there are other organizations that will allow them to telework, and if people want that, they should leave and go work for one of those organizations. That is not how we operate.”-Gustava Taler
The lack of concern for Maryland Legal Aid employees in the middle of a national pandemic is why I’m there is currently a NLRB complaint and an EEOC complaint against the organization.

Thank you @b3dubose @DTOhl @OvettaWashPost @allyschweitzer @Steve_Lash for your reporting to date on this incredibly harmful action.

A day before the federal moratorium on evictions is set to lift, four top Maryland Legal Aid attorneys — including two housing law specialists in the Anne Arundel office — no longer work for the company, according to an email obtained by The Capital. trib.al/aCQKk5V

.@capgaznews; More than 130 former Maryland Legal Aid employees have condemned the pro bono law firm’s leadership team for what they describe as retaliation against attorneys who raised concerns about reopening plans during the coronavirus pandemic. bit.ly/2F0SJhv
“I know when people contact Legal Aid, it’s because they really need it. In this pandemic, people don’t have funding for an attorney,” said Jacqueline Boone Allsup, NAACP Anne Arundel chapter president. “Now they are somewhat bewildered, ‘What do I do?’” trib.al/hkBws6H

Hey @washingtonpost! 👋 Recap: four experienced MLA managers were contacted on 7/23 & told to report to our executive team on 7/24. At those meetings, they were fired. Were there transition plans for their clients? Nope. (Seriously!) Any explanations yet? Nuh-uh. Why not? 🤷‍♂️

Current staff and alumni have separately reached out to our board of directors (many of whom have served for a loooong time). We've gotten zero response so far. 😩 How was this a good decision? In a pandemic?? One day before our eviction moratorium expired???

We are all still waiting for an explanation. #FiredFour #safety4MDLAB
Taxpayers of this county are owed an explanation. The leadership of Legal Aid should provide it, the editorial board writes. trib.al/Qkjc0T8

Former Maryland Legal Aid staff have weighed in, too. 130+ of them. We appreciate their calls for answers, and their calls to reinstate the #FiredFour. #safety4MDLAB
A group of MLA alums called the departure of Anita Bailey, Blake Fetrow, John Marshall and Lisa Sarro a “vicious response to staff who speak up,” demanding their immediate reinstatement, according to a letter sent to the board of directors on July 30. capitalgazette.com/news/ac-c…

Why did these firings have to happen so urgently, without a plan for the clients of the #FiredFour? Our clients deserve answers. (Of course, we wouldn't mind hearing them either!) #safety4MDLAB
A Maryland Legal Aid attorney, who left the pro bono law firm unexpectedly last week, said she was fired just days after she and 11 other top attorneys raised concerns about the MLA’s plans to reopen its offices to the public for the first time since March.capitalgazette.com/news/ac-c…

Lisa Sarro has over 30 years of experience, and was a valuable resource to housing attorneys at MLA. She spearheaded a federal lawsuit against the housing authority of Annapolis, which had a status conference the Monday after she was fired. Did executive consider these clients?

Or what about this client of Lisa's? xitter.gq/capgaznews/status/1290…
