Economic development isn’t only about attracting new companies. It’s also about supporting businesses that are already here and continuing to invest in Memphis. Local businesses continue to expand, invest in their operations and create new job opportunities throughout our community. That continued growth strengthens Memphis and creates more opportunities for the people who live and work here. Know a Memphis-area business that’s growing or investing? ag them below we’d love to hear about it! Connect with #MLGW's Economic Development team for information about available business programs and resources. [email protected], 901-528-4228 #EconomicTuesdays

#MLGW will perform routine maintenance involving mercaptan at Democrat Road and Portia Street on Wednesday, October 28. This routine work will last from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public in the surrounding area may smell mercaptan in the air. Mercaptan is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected. Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in the vicinity could smell this strong, sulfuric odor during the morning or from the odorant truck as it travels from each point.

Criminals use technology that makes it look like MLGW is calling you. The technology is called “spoofing.” Your caller ID will display an MLGW phone number, but MLGW operators never call you personally. The criminal is trying to scam you! If you have a question about your bill check your MLGW My Account or call 901-544-6549 and speak to a Customer Care Advisor. #MLGW uses drone pilots to inspect overhead electric equipment. It is a more efficient way to assess our infrastructure so we can get in and make repairs/replace equipment. Working like this has helped us cut the number of outages in the Orange Mound area by around 50%! Drone pilots work M-F during regular business hours; they carry ID and drive vehicles that say "MLGW contractor" on the side. Customers call call 544-6549 to verify an MLGW drone pilot is working in their neighborhood.

Think about your morning routine. You get up, turn on the coffee maker and fill the pot with water. Maybe you fire up the stove for eggs and bacon. The electricity, the water, the gas - they must be affordable AND reliable. That is why MLGW is asking for rate increases in water and gas. Investments help keep our infrastructure reliable today and ready for tomorrow. The proposed increase will not affect all customers the same way. Click here for details: bit.ly/4jyseBx.
