For my fellow OC havers and writers: Here's a couple pages from Manga in Theory and Practice. Araki suggested establishing your character's history first to help flesh out their choices and interactions and thought this was a good list to consider when putting writing a character

Something I’ve always thought of but the Araki book reminded me: Among the big Three, Ichigo’s always been the outlier. in that he had no real motivation or goal at the start Luffy wants to be the Pirate King Naruto wants to be Hokage Ichigo didn’t want anything until Rukia

In that way, Ichigo was the most normal but also the least compelling of the three. I actually feared making Tau that way for Co4K. Not that Ichigo is bad, only that what I personally like in a protag has their motives set. There’s exceptions though like Josuke and things change

Update: A little ways into chapter 3. Some of it is stuff that's purely for the Japanese Mangaka experience which is totally fine, and some of it is stuff I know for the most part, however still really good advice to see as well as keep in mind for new projects to reflect on-

but I like the advice to focus less on personality first for characters/your main characters before creating them and instead focus on motivations first and foremost. The story and the reader has to be behind this more than anything, after all.

Compared to last week's Raw that was pretty trash. It started strong too, Sami and Jevon had a good match but the abrupt tag team finish and the SECOND failed cash in attempt made that end on a wet fart #WWERaw
