I asked @Grok: "Can you see how many of these are overstated and are normal warnings and not all of them suddenly popping onto the scene out of nowhere for the same reasons?"
It answered:
These recommendations are real and largely match longstanding government guidance; they are not sudden, exaggerated “warnings” of one imminent shared catastrophe.X
The X post accurately compiles public advice from multiple countries (mostly 3–7 days of water, non-perishable food, medicines, flashlights/radios, cash, etc.; Germany often ~10 days, Austria sometimes longer, Japan at least 3 preferably a week, EU a 72-hour minimum).Newsweek Similar lists have appeared in news coverage of recent campaigns.Disasterir
What’s normal vs. newly emphasized
US civilian advice (Ready.gov/FEMA) has long been “several days” of supplies (water at ~1 gallon/person/day for drinking and sanitation, non-perishable food, radio, flashlight, first-aid kit, etc.). The Red Cross often frames a 3-day kit for evacuation and longer (up to 2 weeks) for staying home. This is standard disaster-preparedness guidance, not a new alert. The Pentagon’s FORTRESS initiative (announced 2025, details reported in 2026) is separate: it aims for major military bases to sustain essential operations independently for ~90 days in a major conflict that disrupts civilian grids and supply chains. It is not household guidance.
Many European and other recommendations are also not brand-new. Sweden’s “at least a week” guidance is tied to its updated “If Crisis or War Comes” materials (widely distributed around 2024 as part of total-defense revival). Germany’s ~10-day target has Cold War roots and has been refined over years. The EU’s 72-hour self-sufficiency recommendation dates to its March 2025 Preparedness Union Strategy. Nordic and Baltic states have strengthened civil defense for years amid regional security concerns.
Recent public campaigns (UK’s “Be Ready” launched October 2026 for 3 days; Japanese efforts emphasizing 3 days–1 week; others reinforcing 72 hours) are updates or higher-visibility pushes, not inventions. Officials typically describe them as practical steps for short disruptions while help arrives or systems recover.BBC
Shared reasons, not one secret cause
The overlapping advice reflects common vulnerabilities: power/water outages from severe weather (storms, floods, wildfires—often linked to climate factors), cyberattacks or sabotage on infrastructure, supply-chain interruptions, pandemics, or (especially in Europe) hybrid/geopolitical risks tied to the Ukraine war and related tensions. Japan’s focus is heavily earthquake- and disaster-driven. Nordics/Baltics emphasize broader resilience including potential conflict scenarios. The UK has cited both weather and cyber/hostile-actor threats. Officials consistently frame this as resilience planning, not a prediction of imminent large-scale war or collapse. Fact-checks and reporting note that “stockpile” framing can be overstated relative to the modest, practical scope of the advice.
Social-media posts can make the collection look more coordinated and alarming than the underlying guidance is. The durations are modest (days, not months for households), and the items are basic emergency-kit staples recommended for years for ordinary disruptions. Individual risk depends on location, infrastructure reliability, and personal circumstances; longer local outages have occurred in past storms or freezes. Official sites (Ready.gov, national emergency agencies) remain the best sources for the exact current advice in any country.
🚨Countries urging households to prepare / stockpile supplies:
• UK — 3 days (Be Ready campaign)
• Japan — at least 3 days, preferably a week
• Sweden — 7 days
• Norway — 7 days
• Finland — 3 days
• Denmark — 3 days
• Germany — ~10 days
• Austria — 10–14 days
• France — 72 hours
• Netherlands — 72 hours
• Ireland — emergency booklet with stockpiling advice
• Taiwan — 7 days home supplies + go-bag
• Switzerland — about 1 week
• EU — 72-hour recommendation
• Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Poland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Czechia mostly 72 hours
• US — Pentagon’s FORTRESS plan aims for major military bases to operate independently for 90 days (power, fuel, supplies); civilian guidance via Ready.gov remains “several days”
Everyone’s worried about stocking up on food and water to survive some unknown calamity while what y’all really need is Jesus.

Did you know, beginning in Jan. 2027, you can give up to $3400 to a private school of your choice (via non-profit scholarship), and it’s a tax credit? So, if you owe $5,000 in taxes, you’ll only owe $1600. It’s a $1 for $1 tax credit.

Fellow Baptist, check this out. How cool is this!
We know about so many heroes of the faith, but we have forgotten many too. Let me tell you about some of them.
One of the frustrations of studying Baptist history is discovering books that have been out of print for decades, sometimes more than a century. Many are available as old scanned PDFs, but they can be difficult to read, poorly formatted, and nearly impossible to use on a Kindle or other device.
So I've started bringing some of these books back to life.
I've taken original public domain Baptist books, cleaned up the text, corrected scanning errors, and reformatted them into readable modern editions. My goal is to make important works of Baptist history, missions, biography, and theology more accessible to today's readers.
The collection includes books about early Baptist missionaries such as Lott Cary, Henrietta Shuck, and Luther Rice; Baptist history in Louisiana and the American South; and classic works by Charles Spurgeon, John Bunyan, and others.
I've called the project "The Baptist Book Shelf."
There are currently 20 books in the collection, with more on the way. Two are available as free PDF downloads, and the others are available at a modest price. Several are also available in Kindle and paperback editions on Amazon. I can only add two books a week on Amazon, but have almost 30 ready to go live as soon as I can. No matter what format you need, you can find it.
This has been a labor of love. I enjoy Baptist history, and I believe these books deserve to be read rather than forgotten.
I'd invite you to take a look, download one of the free books, and browse the collection. And if you know someone who enjoys Baptist history, I'd appreciate you sharing it with them.

Well that certainly adds some context. No excuse for breaking the law.
I have received a statement from DHS regarding Sam Sey:
“On October 21, ICE arrested Samuel Sey, an illegal alien from Ghana, at the Columbus International Airport. Sey entered the United States legally in 2022 but overstayed his length of admission by over four years, in violation of our nation’s laws. Sey has no pending applications and accepted voluntary departure. He will remain in ICE custody until removed from the United States.
“We do not pick and choose which laws to enforce or where to enforce them.
“We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.” - DHS SPOX
As I get more information, I will update.
This is the kind of leadership the world so desperately needs today.

After 25 years in 1 pulpit, what would I tell a young preacher? A 🧵(in no particular order):
1) Ignore the numbers and connect with your people. Don’t obsess about growth. Don’t apologize for who isn’t there when your friends visit. Minister to what’s in front of you. 👇
