This is the death of MAGA.
Everyone in the Trump administration or even vaguely associated with that disaster will be unelectable. Many of them will be prosecuted and end up in jail for the countless crimes they committed when they thought they had impunity.
Republicans will turn on each other and the administration in the hopes of distancing themselves and clawing a way back to relevance, which will be very difficult but only possible if they completely throw Trump and his acolytes under the bus.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Because there weren’t just politicians involved in this debacle. There were influencers, foreign leaders, billionaires, and entire companies. All of them are now radioactive, and they too will turn on MAGA in the hopes of recovering even a shred of good will.
This isn’t the end of slopulism, though. What’s likelier is that what comes after MAGA is even worse. But for the moment they will eat each other alive. And that’s a victory.
