The quality of today's doom, unmatchable. We are flirting with national economic collapse and a global recession all within the next year or so.

“Ugandan, Swiss, Nigerian”. The index #Ebola patient in #Nigeria has attracted unnecessary and stigmatising labels; it only fuels public anxiety, and stigma. See the labels.. “A Ugandan-born wife of a Swiss diplomat based in Abuja” “A Swiss national married to a diplomat” “A Swiss citizen and the Ugandan-born wife of a Swiss diplomat” “A Ugandan national married to a Swiss diplomat” “A Nigerian national holidaying in Uganda” “A Wife of a Swiss diplomat” “A Nigerian woman on a business trip to DRC but transited through Uganda” “A 42-year-old Ugandan woman” Can we all just stop this? Public officials with nothing verified to communicate, can you keep off? The precision of public information matters a lot. The personal identity of Nigeria’s index Ebola case provides zero medical value. In fact, potential patients will avoid testing to escape public trial. Ultimately, we will all pay the price.

This seems like a good time to tell you about how outbreak response works. 1. Declaration. There is a category of diseases that countries are mandated to tell the rest of the world about when a certain threshold of number of cases is reached. For Ebola, that is 1 case.

“…many of us reached a conclusion that seemed almost impractical then but feels urgent and essential now: We had to ignore the noise and market signals and, to borrow from the South African anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko, write whatever we liked.”

The same way they were undetected at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Mutala Mohammed International Airport. If they were served at thos sairpirts, you would claim some supremacy. Ebola is a complex virus that's not ready for these doltish questions
First it was Kenya, now Nigeria. How were all these patient Zeros leaving Uganda and arriving undetected?

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from living in a country where you cannot confidently plan your future because the economy, currency, electricity and cost of living can ruin your plans overnight.
