While I make it a point not to comment on politics or current events, I feel like it's a good time to emphasize that Uncommon Ephemera does not and has never received funding or support from governmental sources. In fact I am not even eligible for traditional media preservation grants, all of which require the materials not be published and the materials be housed in a pubilc-access facility like a museum or library. As you can imagine, it's not feasible to just let the entire world come hang out at my house at all hours.
While it's crucial for everyone to voice their opinions on global and national issues, I'd like to also highlight the importance of individual support of independent initiatives like Uncommon Ephemera who rely on the generosity of a few patrons and even fewer donations. My mission is to preserve media that might otherwise be lost to time, a task I undertake with very limited resources. Your support, whether through donations or spreading the word on social media, is absolutely vital for us to keep this unique archive alive and accessible.

I NEED YOUR HELP: Filmstrips, educational and industrial slideshows on strips of 35mm film, are disappearing before our eyes, and nobody is preserving them. They are not straightforward to preserve and many are on film that is literally disintegrating. As far as I can tell, I'm the only person on earth preserving and restoring them.
All the filmstrips I preserve are uploaded to the @internetarchive, where they can be viewed by everyone.
I need your help to make sure this part of history isn't lost to time!

Hurricane Helene wrecked my home and the main LGR collection room got soaked and moldy. So this 1st part of the cleanup process is unboxing the wet boxes, evaluating damage, and wiping down the surfaces of things!
FYI - I’ll still post video updates here… but I’ll be focusing more elsewhere.
