The “Zionism is settler colonialism” claim rests on early Zionists using the word “colony.”
In the 1880s–1910s, that word simply meant a new agricultural settlement. The Jewish Colonization Association used the same term for farms in Argentina.
There was no metropole and no resource extraction for an empire. Just Jews buying land and building self-governing communities in their ancestral homeland.

Imagine the Jewish State kept the name Palestine. How would Palestinian Arabs be called today?

Around 40 million (as a tentative midpoint) Muslims have been forcibly displaced from their original homes since 1947 who did not subsequently return, excluding Palestinians.
Absolutely nobody cares or mentions it.

The most effective weapon against Israel has been redefining words until self-defense becomes the crime.
“Genocide” once meant the deliberate attempt to destroy a people. Hamas wrote that goal into its charter, yet the army fighting it is the one called genocidal.
“Apartheid,” “colonialism,” “occupation”—same method. Change the meaning and repeat the new one so many times it becomes gospel.
The only real "offense" to those fighting linguistic warfare is the very existence of the world's only Jewish state.

We had to request it, and here it is. The Clerk turned our plain text email into unreadable garbled hash! 23 of 25 oppose renaming.

It seems wrong that you can ascend City Hall, view a portrait of every rogue and mensch who ever swore allegiance as mayor, yet old Don Carlos is not on display. His portrait, by rOrpha Klinker Carpenter, was gifted to the City to be hung above his old tower desk in 1935.

In 1993, the city council voted unamously to rename Brooklyn Avenue to Cesar Chavez Avenue. Local merchants and residents pleaded with the council not to rename the street.
The city council did what they wanted to do. The arrogance of the city council.

Glass Telescope Model
Before they built the great Hale Telescope of Mt. Palomar, they made a glass model. And a winged pin became known too at the same time. 1937

Deputy City Attorney Strefan Fauble is allowing people to speak on Item #5, which is not agendized for comment today PLUS a minute for general public comment.
A total Brown Act violation.
And he's allowing people to speak longer than a minute on general public comment IF they are in favor of renaming Pershing Square.

Renaming Pershing Square Biddy Mason Park is a City Hall hustle.
This is all about money, not about honoring anyone.
And this Labor Day, we're hard at work getting the story locked down, because YOU, dear gaslit Angeleno, deserve the truth from your so-called "leaders."

Beware the rapacious self storage warehouse expansion! 6839-6845 Woodley Ave got a zone change and poof, there went 14 households (1925-1956). Maybe they'll each get a unit and go see America. Bye, friends!
