Retail investors are trading less. Over the last 20 trading days, retail investors have purchased just +$1 billion of single stocks, near the lowest 20-day total in at least 2 years. In early August, this figure even briefly turned negative for the first time since at least October 2024. By comparison, retail's 20-day purchases stood at +$20 billion in April 2025. Furthermore, total retail equity purchases have declined to +$10 billion over the last 20 trading days, near their lowest reading since at least October 2024. Retail equity purchases are now down -67% from the +$30 billion recorded over the 20-day period in February 2026. Retail investors are becoming more cautious.

Opisałem to szerzej w październiku: xitter.cf/luke_skiba/status/1981…
Link do pełnego opracowania w załączeniu.

🚨US MARGIN DEBT IS EXPLODING HIGHER: US margin debt spiked another $112 BILLION last month to $1.4 TRILLION, an all-time high. Since 2023, the amount of debt used for trading has more than DOUBLED. Historically, such a rapid surge in margin debt have preceded major bear markets: It peaked in March 2000, just months before the Dot-Com collapse, or in July 2007, 3 months before the S&P 500 topped out ahead of the Financial Crisis. Most recently, margin debt peaked in October 2021, 2 months before the S&P 500's December 2021 high, preceding a -25% drawdown through September 2022. History does not repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

We’ve been continuously training our AI — and this time, we used MacroMicro AI to distill our latest June Investment Monthly Report into a single Investment Dashboard for rapid global market orientation. June’s signal is clear: market focus is rotating from geopolitics to the Fed transition. Policy expectations, liquidity conditions, and the FOMC dot plot are emerging as the key drivers of potential market repricing. Yet fundamentals remain the anchor. AI-driven earnings momentum continues to underpin equity leadership — particularly across the US, Taiwan, and South Korea. Our core view holds: equities over bonds, with a tilt toward AI exposure and short-duration US Treasuries. This dashboard is built for investors who want the macro picture before diving into the full monthly analysis — clarity first, depth second. 🔒 Now is the time to lock in MacroMicro at our current offer. Subscribers will be seamlessly upgraded to MacroMicro AI as it rolls out — turning macro signals into sharper investment decisions. Lock in Now 🚀 → pse.is/93xvb9

Something important is taking shape at @MacroMicro Over the past decade, many of you have come to MacroMicro for a chart, a research report, a course, or a clearer way to understand the macro forces shaping markets. Thank you for being part of that journey. Your trust has helped MacroMicro support more than 7.6 million users each year. Now, we are entering our next chapter: 🕶️ MacroMicro is evolving into the AI-Native Macro Terminal. We have built a trusted database with hundreds of millions of data points, while continuously refining the research frameworks and market context that help investors identify opportunities, assess risks, and make more informed decisions. Starting this July, we will begin bringing these foundations together through AI. We will introduce two flagship AI products: #AI_Chat | Global Macro AI Research Assistant A 24/7 research assistant built on MacroMicro’s research framework and proprietary database, designed to help you explore questions across the economy, industries, and financial markets. #AI_Dashboard | Dynamic Investment Command Center A bespoke intelligence dashboard that allows you to organize, compare, and interact with global market data and AI decision tools through a single, intuitive interface. And this is only the beginning. We want to bring AI across the entire MacroMicro experience, helping investors move beyond simply viewing data to understanding what it means, why it matters, and how it may shape future decisions. Ten years ago, we believed in focusing on fundamentals and making disciplined investment decisions. Ten years later, that belief remains unchanged. ⛽️The Strait of Hormuz moves 20% of the world's oil. If it gets disrupted, this isn't just a geopolitical headline, it's an inflation story. Oil spikes, energy costs feed back into CPI, and suddenly the Fed's rate cut path looks a lot less clear. That's the scenario markets are pricing right now. So we built the #USIranConflictDashboard to track exactly that — tanker routes, crude inventories, OPEC production, volatility, crack spreads. Everything the Fed is quietly watching, in one place. Third, central banks flooded markets with liquidity after the GFC. They bought bonds, crushed yields, and forced investors into stocks. That process has slowed and in some cases reversed.

The US consumer is showing more signs of stress. 🚨 - 12.7% of credit card balances are 90 or more days late, a level not seen since 2011. - Auto loan delinquencies are also elevated, hitting 5.21%, and recently peaking at levels not seen since just before the COVID crash.

It's well-known China has been thinning out their holdings of US treasuries and rotating into other assets, notably #gold. What's less known is that the UK has become the 2nd largest holder after a huge ramp up since 2020. It seems the 'Special Relationship' is alive and well.
