I nodded, more enthusiastically this time, a smile on my face. "Same," I echoed while slowly jabbing a finger against his chest, then doing the same with mine. Somehow, from the very beginning, we were the same. And there was definitely a strange kind of comfort in that.
“You want white hair too?” That could definitely work. He had more than enough white hairspray left. He reached forward and coiled a finger around a strand of her hair, gently flicking it around. “I can do that. We’d be the same, sure.”

"White hair." I brought his fingers up to touch my head now, peering at him. My hair was much longer now. I could look like him. "You. Me. Same."
“Real. But it’s just for tonight, it won’t stay forever.” He allowed her to tug his hair, chuckling softly. He tapped the back of her hand when she poked at his jacket, his smile softening as he looked at her, shoulders relaxing. “Still me. Promise.”

"Free!" My face splits into a grin. That meant hunting down the house with the carved pumpkins, getting the all the sweets, and walking away. I could do that. But his choice of words gave me pause. "No nice people?" Brows knitted together. I had seen a poster of them in >
“Nope. You don’t have to pay for the candy this time. It’s free. People — nice people, I guess — give it to you on Halloween.” He gently nudged her, nodding softly. “Yeah, match. We’ll get the same costume, or almost the same. Like… Ghostbusters, or something.”

> Sam's room. He promised we'd watch that movie at some point. "I like." Even if the concept of hunting ghosts sounded strange. Then again, I wasn't exactly not-strange.

"Many rules." I pinched the tip of my nose. Although I liked the idea of candy. "No pay?" I still remember people running after me when I took some items and walked away without giving them money. "Match." I nodded, pointing at us again.
“Uhuh. If someone has a carved pumpkin on their porch, you can knock on their door and they’ll give you candy if you say ‘trick-or-treat.” He followed her line of sight, nodding. “We’ll get you a costume. We could match, or something.”

"Real?" Fingers reached up to tug a strand of hair lightly. He looked... different. Older. I could still recognize him, of course. I could also feel his mind, which helped a lot to find some sort of comfort. I knew he wanted to go out and show me how this worked, but I >
“Great, right? I get to not be me for a night!” The white hair is amusing him a little too much. Maybe he should keep it.

"Tradition," I murmured, still trying to wrap my head around it. I make a 'knock-knock' gesture as if it questioning it. My eyes dropped to my current outfit before meeting his gaze again. "Custome?" I pointed at us in turn, already wondering what he had in mind.
“𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 to. It’s like a tradition — a thing you do to celebrate something. People give it out at their doors when you knock on them. But you have to be in a —” And that that, he offered her a grin. “— costume. Another tradition. You get to dress up for Halloween.”

Staring at him. Then blinking. Then staring again. Why was his hair ( white )? And the googles...

"Have to?" An echo of words, confusion plain across my features. A compulsion? Was there a rule for this? "Costume?" The idea of both made my eyes glint with both curiosity and excitement.
She never…? “We’re carving pumpkins, for sure. Two each. We’ll watch some movies - scary ones. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 we have to eat candy. A 𝘭𝘰𝘵 of it. And you can dress up in a costume, if you want.” He’s going to make this a 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 Halloween for her.

So, how are we celebrating, then? Never did before. I just heard some kids talking about it and I'm curious now.
He does. He actually enjoys Halloween.

Wondering if @ADemonicGift celebrates Halloween.

"Welcome." I speared the stack with the fork, dividing it in half, bringing mine to my plate. I nodded. Pancakes were comforting. Especially fluffy like this. I paused, glancing around. "Syrup?" Just then, the milk started to boil, and I stood to turn off the stove. >
“Thank you.” He gave her a grateful smile as she joined him, then turned his attention to the stack of pancakes. A brow raised, looking from her and to it. “You do this a lot at home?”

> I wasn't a fan of coffee, so warm milk would have to do. While I poured it into two mugs for us, I stared at Eddie. There were no pancakes without syrup.

When? Does he at least have honey? It's not as good but it might do... I have only enough butter to top this.

Sam's features lit up, and there was a twinkle in his eyes I couldn't quite decipher. But he looked... happy? Maybe? I nodded again, blowing a strand of hair from my face, eyes crossing.
Pride wasn’t strong enough of a word for what spread through him at that moment he heard her voice. Those two small words meant so much to him. “You’re welcome.”

How does a human being live without maple syrup! EDDIE!

I didn't see maple syrup... Don't tell me he doesn't have maple syrup.

I followed the recipe I had memoried to a T, and took my time to make a stack of fluffy richness on a plate. Of course I made enough to end in a 'food coma' like Dustin usually called it. Once I was done, I returned to the table, plopping down onto a chair next to him.
“Okay. Alright.” He raised his hands in a gesture to say he wouldn’t interrupt her cooking, laughing softly at the expression she had given him. Instead, he brought plates to her and settled back down, watching her work.

I made a face at him when he made me pause, and continued to make breakfast for us. I didn't ( have ) to, but I ( wanted ) to. He didn't really have much there, but at least I could make pancakes. Fluffy, the way I liked them.
He took the water gratefully, taking a quick drink before he screwed the bottle lid back on. “Woah — hey.” Once he caught sight of what she was doing, he scrambled to his feet, taking a moment to get his balance. “It’s okay. I’ll do that. You don’t have to.”
