At Queen Elizabeth P.S., Math support Megan Chadwick & Gr 1 teacher, Jordan Tummillo used manipulatives, rick-a-racks, games to reinforce number concepts for addition. Students explained their thinking & the skill being used. Wonderful educators empowering learning in math.

A great start to the new year when I visited Preston HS. Making the school a place where all students feel they belong is a focus. Collaborative inquiry evident in Gr 11 Indigenous Studies & Science as well as the ACE class. Student engagement in a positive learning environment.

Thanks to Doon P.S. for excellence. Teachers Val MacDonald, Vinny Lowry, Deanna Reinhart use technology to extend math learning & reinforce facts & concepts. What I Need (WIN) groups-a timetabled intervention approach supports academic & social-emotional needs. Students first!

It was great to be with the Vista Hills P.S. Marching Band in the Santa Claus parade. They had everyone rocking to the beat & will repeat tonight in the Cambridge parade. A BIG thank you to the students, staff & families out to support their children.

Nov. 3-9 is Treaties Recognition Week in On. WRDSB staff & students are being supported to learn about Treaties. Reconciliation requires us to learn about treaties & to recognize the impact that colonialism, injustice and inequality has on First Nation, Métis and Inuit Nations.
