John Hammond (GM with an advisory role) drafted Giannis.
Jeff Weltman, President of Basketball Operations scouted Giannis.
Sean Sweeney worked closely with Giannis in Milwaukee.
Tea leaves are lining up for the Magic.
Sweeney will finish the remainder of the postseason on the Spurs bench -- with Game 7 on Saturday night for an NBA Finals berth.
Former Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan and LA Clippers assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy were the two other finalists for the Magic's coaching vacancy, sources said.
Sweeney, 41, has run San Antonio's defense for Coach of the Year finalist Mitch Johnson this season, guiding an improvement from 25th to third in the NBA’s defensive efficiency rankings, garnering praise from the team's young stars Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.
Under Johnson and his lead assistant in Sweeney, the Spurs made a 28-win improvement to a 62-20 campaign — tied for the third-most wins in franchise history — and have made a deep run with one of the youngest lineups in playoffs history.

The Magic didn’t offer Billy Donovan the head coach job even after meeting with the team last week, per @BrettSiegelNBA

Paolo was leading the league in passes to 3pt shooting FG%.. it disappeared in the playoffs because guys on this team consistently fold in the biggest moments and no one could hit shots enough. Paolo eventually stopped trusting them and took over. I’m not blaming paolo OR Mosley.. even though I completely disagree in the ways Mosley was trying to get Paolo the ball in half court situations. Creating a system in which you need consistency in shooting and blaming the main scorer when isn’t passing to guys who are showing time and time again they can’t hit shots.. everything breaks down there’s nothing to rely on , it’s Franz Paolo bane save us.. THATS the issue with the Mosley system.

Jamahl Mosley:
•189-221 record (46.1% Win percentage)
•Missed the playoffs his first two seasons in Orlando
•Three consecutive first round exits

The Orlando Magic are “almost certain” to fire Jamahl Mosley, no matter what happens in the playoffs, per @JakeLFischer
