I mainly talk non-sense about movies, Oscars speculation, and US politics.

Imagine a world where these are Best Picture nominees. Box Busters - The Odyssey - Project Hail Mary - Dune 3 International - La Bola Negra - All of a Sudden - Possible Love Auteur - Wild Horse Nine Films That Overcame All Odds - Obsession - Wildwood - You Can See Everything
WILDWOOD is a masterpiece of stop-motion animation. The kind of cinematic achievement that takes your breath away with each painstakingly handcrafted scene, culminating in a gigantic battle sequence that rivals the work seen in “Game of Thrones” or “The Lord Of The Rings.” It’s the peak of everything LAIKA has been building over the past 20 years and the crown jewel in their remarkable, ever-growing legacy. An exquisitely conceived and wildly imaginative fantasy adventure that plays out like a warm, cozy bedtime story your parents used to read to you when you were a kid, filled with darkness, wonder, humor, enthusiasm and a tender emotional core that makes you care about its characters. I was left speechless when it concluded, in awe of everything each department accomplished from the immersive sound design, to Dario Marianelli’s majestic score, the seamless visual effects and the astonishing production and costume design. It represents a new pinnacle for the medium and stands firmly as the finest animated film of the year.

I could also include The Invite and The Debut, but I only have room for 10 films. Not 12. And I would value experimental filmmaking having Wildwood and You Can See Everything over more traditional dramas.

Cannes press conference opening with a rambling anti-AI speech, only to announce Soderbergh's AI John Lennon doc in the selection... great bit

My inner fan of South East Asian Cinema in me is so happy. I’ve got four in-competition films to be excited about from Ryuske Hamaguchi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Na Hong-jin, & Koji Fukada. I’ve also got a Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Yeon Sang-ho film to look forward to in other categories.

I know nobody else will really say anything about this film. But I’m really interested in that Ron Howard documentary about Richard Avedon. I’m a professional photographer myself and have known and admired Avedon’s work for years. I love this portrait of Marilyn Monroe from him

They literally had 20 minutes to spare before going overtime. Like there is no excuse.
Ugh. I really REALLY hate it when people get played off. The room was NOT HAPPY. Surely you can spare a few extra seconds? Do better @TheAcademy #Oscars
