My 1st writing project! Grateful to my MBC pals that encouraged me to do this. Being able to see my words in an article like this has been rewarding and the LBBC team are wonderful!

On 3/13/2020, the president declared a national emergency and Lisa Francis was diagnosed with #metastatic #breastcancer. Soon after, she learned she had Li-Fraumeni syndrome. Learn how she has navigated grief and gratitude during the COVID-19 pandemic: bit.ly/3MmKsVs

Stop calling people who die of cancer losers. No matter how much of a fighter I am, I'm going to die. Not because I've 'lost the fight' but because metastatic breast cancer results in death. I loathe all the ridiculous war metaphors in health care.
Well I finally joined the COVID club 😒 day 1 was awful but started on antivirals right away and felt better immediately. Grateful to have been vaccinated and boosted and approved for the antivirals. Knock on wood but I think I’m almost over it.
First time on a plane with no masks, we still wore ours but the hubby has COVID 😢 pretty sure it was from the family of maskless coughers behind us 😒 he’s doing ok in isolation and so far I’m negative. Hoping it stays that way! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Monday was the first day since I was diagnosed over two years ago that I could have someone come with me to infusion. Great timing for starting a new treatment! Kind of surreal to not be alone with my nurses. So far I’m feeling good! No side effects and safety arrived in Rome!
Well… shit. I’m meeting with the oncologist today to find out what’s next. Has anyone turned it around after something like this? Would love to hear some hopeful stories 💜
One thing I love about City of Hope is I have the sweetest nurses. I bonded with one of them over our mutual love of birds and she bought me a bird feeder! My neighbors might hate it but it’s brought me so much joy. I even love the squirrel that comes by, she’s so cute! 🥰

Therapist: And what do we say when someone offers you unsolicited advice during holiday gatherings?
Me: Ho ho ho I’m still feliz navidying
Therapist: No.
“Don’t judge yourself, or others, for feeling difficult emotions. Be compassionate. Tell yourself: “I am feeling sad or lonely in the pandemic and that is normal.””
Even more so when you add cancer in the mix. sending this article to everyone I know on.wsj.com/3wfKIft

We want to draw attention to the lovely and amazing @ThanksCancer, who's been suspended from @Twitter due to buts misunderstanding a comment she made in sympathy with another patient. They won't let her back on unless she "admits" it was harassment/abuse.
My onc nurse consistently comments on my weight. If I lose 5 pounds, she congratulates me. If I gain 5 pounds, I get a "tsk tsk". I know that some drug doses take weight into account, but she's not my infusion nurse so I would think it's not relevant? Is this typical??
It makes me uncomfortable and I want to say something to her but don't want to cross any lines if it's standard practice.
