JD Vance seems to be blaming his own unpopularity and how out of touch he is with the American public on a foreign war that wasn’t even among voters’ top five concerns.
Tucker Carlson and his circle are pushing this narrative, apparently hoping to make it the central argument for Vance’s presidential bid. It will fail miserably.
If the war in Iran played any role at all, it was because people like Vance dragged it out and prevented Trump from finishing the job.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi at the European Parliament (Brussels, early Nov 2026) answered a question on the January (Dey) uprising, the role of security forces who joined the people, and how trust can be rebuilt for legitimate self defense.
Key points from his response (based on the session footage):
• The Islamic Republic has lost legitimacy; the practical balance of power now lies in Iran’s streets, which will allow the people to reclaim their rights.
• The regime’s standard tactics internet blackouts, violent suppression, intimidation, and attempts to demoralize the population have not broken public resolve. The bloodshed has instead deepened the divide.
• The struggle continues until Iran is free. He emphasized minimizing casualties and costs when mobilizing, while strengthening people for self defense and legitimate defense (including coordinated external support for tools and pressure on regime agents who rely on brutality).
• Tactics are being adjusted as part of the ongoing strategy of deepening internal regime fractures, encouraging defections, and building capacity on the ground.

Shame on you!

@danusenerudova
Thank you,@danusenerudova , for your principled and sustained support for freedom, democracy and human rights in Iran.
As she made clear following her meeting with Prince Reza Pahlavi, resolutions and statements are not enough. Europe must engage, take practical action and pursue concrete ways to support the Iranian people.
Above all, Iran’s future belongs to the Iranian people and must be decided by them, freely, without fear and without pressure.

Românii știu ce înseamnă să lupți pentru libertate. În 1989 am reușit. Acum iranienii au nevoie de sprijin.
Reza Shah II cere Parlamentului European:
1. Blocarea activelor regimului
2. Expulzarea agenților din Europa
3. Internet nelimitat pentru iranieni
4. Protecție pentru deținuții politici
5. Sprijin pentru cei care au părăsit regimul

I have come to Brussels with a clear message: Europe must end appeasement and stand with the Iranian people.
A regime that plots terror on European soil, takes citizens hostage, develops missiles that can reach Europe and supports Russia’s war against Ukraine threatens Europe freedom and security too.
In The Brussels Times, I set out five concrete steps European lawmakers can take to support our struggle for freedom.

World—
Never forget:
The terrorist Islamic regime occupying Iran & its savage IRGC thugs massacred 100,000+ unarmed, innocent Iranians in less than 48 hours on January 7 and 8.
We will never forget them.
They gave their lives for freedom and democracy.
Free Iran!
Javid Shah!
Today in Brussels, I met with General Christophe Gomart, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence.
I thanked him for his steadfast support for the Iranian people’s struggle against the Islamic Republic, and for his deep respect for Iran’s civilization.
We discussed practical means of support, including keeping Iranians connected to the internet. I welcome his commitment to working with us to advance the Iranian people’s cause at the European level.

Today in Europe, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi delivered a clear message:
“The Islamic Republic is weaker than ever. It will fall. The only question is how soon and whether Europe will stand with the Iranian people or continue to appease this regime.”
In January, millions of Iranians from every province and every walk of life rose up. More than 40,000 gave their lives for freedom. Their courage has shaken the regime to its foundations. It is divided, frightened, and now taking revenge under the cover of global silence.
It has learned how to murder without making headlines hanging prisoners one or two at a time. More than 70 political prisoners have been executed since January. Over 100 protesters face execution today.
Appeasement is not neutrality. It is complicity.
Europe must choose: stand with the Iranian people, or keep enabling a dying regime that threatens both Iranians and Europe’s own security.

The Iran war did not lose Trump the midterms. JD Vance’s pathetic negotiating strategy did.
We had the mullahs crushed militarily in April, but JD deliberately tried to save them. What an evil man.
It’s time to finish the job once and for all. No more appeasement. Free Iran!
