If you’re seeking sanctuary from the madness of this world, is there anywhere better than a place like this? I feel that I could stare at this image for hours. Simple yet sublime. Lacock Abbey yesterday, warmed by the afternoon sun.

What. The. Actual. Fuck… Praising Vladimir Putin as a humanitarian? What world are you living in? It’s obscene
Witkoff to Putin: β€œYou talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian -- you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”

For those keen on medieval history, there's a new anthology being written, and it's one of those very different types! Take a look here: buff.ly/V3uVwT4 @RawPowerPublishing #ACoS #ACenturyofSwords

OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.

King Death calling two of his victims to Judgement in St Machar's Cathedral, Aberdeen, on the memorial to Patrick Scougal, c1690. Scougal was the last-but-one Church of Scotland Bishop of Aberdeen before the episcopacy was abolished, a notorious anti-Catholic and witch-hunter. 1/3 #MemorialsMonday

Hardman glass inside the enormous private chapel within Arundel Castle. Like everything else at Arundel, it is rather striking - literally in the case of Holofernes, who is about to have his head struck off by Judith. #StainedGlassSunday

The Gold Room at Polesden Lacey in Surrey today. Rich golden decor or a lone wooden chair in the corridor outside? I know which I preferred πŸͺ‘

George Orwell worked for the BBC for 2 years and didn’t particularly enjoy it. But at the end he told his boss that no one had ever asked him to broadcast anything he didn’t believe. I’ve now worked for it for 60 years, and can honestly say exactly the same thing.
