🇳🇬❤️ TO EVERY NIGERIAN YOUTH WHO IS TIRED BUT STILL TRYING… I know you are tired. Tired of waking up every morning to a country that demands so much from you but gives so little in return. Tired of struggling for the basics while being told to keep working hard. Some of you are graduates with certificates and no jobs. Some are employed but still cannot afford a decent life. Some are running businesses that barely survive. Others smile on social media while secretly wondering how they will pay rent, feed their families, or start again after another disappointment. You are told to be patient, yet your youth is passing. You are told to work hard, yet hard work does not always open doors. You are told to believe in Nigeria, even when the country gives you countless reasons to lose hope. But please, keep going. Not because everything is fine, but because your life is worth more than the hardships surrounding you. Rest when you need to. Ask for help when you can. Celebrate your little victories. Do not be ashamed of starting small, and never measure your worth against someone else's progress. Nigerian youths are not lazy. They are tired of fighting battles that responsible leadership should be helping them overcome. One day, I hope we will live in a Nigeria where young people can do more than survive—where they can breathe, build, laugh, love, and truly live. Until then, dear youth, please don't give up on yourself. If you are a Nigerian youth fighting silently to make life work, this message is for you. You are seen. You are not alone. Keep going.🕊️

Three months later, my sister invited me to her house. Her husband was sitting beside her when she placed a small box on the table. Inside was the engagement ring he had shown me before the wedding. She looked at me and said, “He told me he bought this ring for you. I wanted to see if you would tell me the truth, and you did.” I smiled nervously, thinking she understood. Then she said, “But you forgot one thing. I may not have loved him, but I trusted you.” My smile disappeared. She turned to her husband and said, “We're done. I won't spend my life with a man who lies to his wife.” Then she faced me. “And I won't keep a sister who knew exactly what she was doing.” She walked away, leaving me standing there. I lost the man I thought I loved, and the sister who had loved me all my life. That day, I learned that not every truth you tell makes you innocent, especially when your actions betray the person who trusts you most.

My sister called me crying the night before her wedding. “I can’t do it,” she said. “I don’t love him.” I stayed quiet. Because the man she was about to marry had already sent me the engagement ring photo two weeks earlier… with my name on the box. I finally told her the truth. “Thank God you don't love him, because he loves me. He showed me that ring and confessed that I was the woman he truly wanted.” I expected her to get angry, but she went quiet. Then she said, “If you love him, you can have him.” The next morning, I went to her wedding, expecting her to call it off. Instead, she walked down the aisle and married him. I watched in shock as the man who had promised me his heart became my brother-in-law. After the ceremony, my sister hugged me and whispered, “Thank you for telling me the truth.” I thought she meant it. I had no idea what she was planning.

some mysteries are buried with the dead, but their secrets refuse to dìe.
In 1996, a woman in our village gave birth to a baby who cried every night at exactly 1 p.m., but the strange thing was that the crying stopped whenever an old woman from the next compound entered the room. When the old woman dìed, the baby suddenly spoke its first words at just three months old, saying, “Mama, why did you leave me here again?” The mother nearly fainted when her husband revealed that the old woman had lost a baby in that same room over 40 years earlier, and nobody had ever explained how it dìed.

in 1992, a strange bus arrived in our village every Friday at midnight, carrying passengers nobody recognized, and the driver never spoke to anyone. One night, my father boarded it by mistake, but when he returned home the next morning, he was shaking because every passenger had been calling him by his dêad brother’s name. The terrifying part was that his brother had died 11 years earlier, and when the villagers checked the road where the bus stopped, they found fresh tyre marks leading straight into the cemetery.

one night in Lagos, a commercial bus driver picked up a woman at Ojuelegba who begged him to drop her at a particular house in Surulere, but when they arrived, she handed him an old photograph and disappeared before he could collect his fare. The driver knocked on the gate, and an elderly man opened it, took one look at the photograph, and started crying because it was his daughter, who had died in a road accident 15 years earlier. The driver was about to leave when the old man asked him one question that made his legs weak: “What time did you pick her up? Because she died at that exact bus stop at 11:30 p.m.”

A girl’s confidence can be damaged long before she becomes a woman. Every time she is taught that her voice matters less because she is a girl, someone is shaping the adult she will become.

when I was growing up, an old woman in our village used to buy food every evening for a son nobody had ever seen. One night, a neighbour followed her and watched her place the food beside an abandoned house, then call out her son’s name three times before walking away. When the villagers finally questioned her, she broke down and revealed that her only son had been missing for 17 years, but every night, someone ate the food she left behind.
