Greyhound racing has around 2 million annual attendances. Hardly a niche pursuit.
Greyhound welfare data is public, transparent and improving. Deaths have more than halved since 2017. Almost all dogs are now successfully rehomed.
The same scrutiny does not apply to the dogs Matt and his colleagues actually own. Dachshunds have a 1 in 4 lifetime risk of a painful spinal condition caused by how they are bred. No vet checks. No welfare data. No transparency.
One question worth asking: is Gamban using publicly awarded safer gambling funds to attend a campaign conference in London? That would be an interesting use of money meant to protect problem gamblers.
Our co-founder @mattzarb speaking today at the @GREY2KUSA conference in London about how the gambling industry props up greyhound racing.
This is not a spectator sport by any serious metric. The largest betting companies in the UK own and sell this racing content to gambling sites around the world, where it is even syndicated to black market gambling operators.
Dogs are turned into fodder for betting events: races on crowded oval tracks that are dangerous by design to increase the randomness of outcomes. That’s why between 2017 and 2025 38,000 injuries to greyhounds were recorded and 4,400 died.
Gambling operators treat these dogs with even more contempt than they have for their human customers. This has to end.
It is our privilege to be a part of greyhoundfreedomuk.org to raise awareness of all harms associated with the gambling industry.

Bradley Walsh hosts this big anti-gambling ad... and so tune into ITV to see him again tomorrow on the Chase sponsored by... whatever Bingo company sponsors it these days! #millionpoundshot

The irony of Channel 4's Million Pound Shot being an elaborate anti-gambling stunt.
This is the same channel that signed a 14 month sponsorship deal with Paddy Power for First Dates.
Perhaps the biggest gamble is trying to explain that one. 🤣
