There is no safe way to strangle someone.
Replying to @latsot
I do strangulation exams as part of my job. I have taken extensive training in strangulation and am qualified to testify as an expert in strangulation cases. The general public has no idea how bad this epidemic has become, how many women and girls this is happening to, or how dangerous this is. I share facts about it sometimes like men who strangle women are twice as likely to be involved in a mass shooting or to kill a cop. Women who are strangled by their partners are 750% more likely to be killed by that partner. I tell people that death by strangulation can occur in just minutes, under a minute if you hit the right nerve bundles that lead to certain arrhythmias. I also tell them that a woman can die from a strangulation event up to one year after the event and that a pregnant woman who has been strangled is at high risk of pregnancy loss for weeks after the strangulation event. Strangulation can lead to brain damage, physical disability, stroke, pregnancy loss, and death. I tell people that there is no safe way to strangle and that nobody has the ability to consent to being murdered, and consent is not an excuse for murder, if someone were to consent to this it is incumbent on the would be murderer to use self discipline and restraint, because a person’s “consent” to being murdered is not going to be recognized by any court as a legitimate excuse. Nobody can consent to being killed. When I tell people these things, a very few are appreciative, mostly women, some are interested, men and women, and some attack me for being stupid and not knowing what I am talking about, apparently days of professional training and hundreds of exams performed mean nothing to the “experts” of X. Those that attack are mostly men. Some argue with me about dumb things, like my insistence to call strangulation what it is. Strangulation is not choking, choking is not strangulation, these are two different types of ways to block an airway but they are not the same. That is what people argue with me about the most. They insist on using incorrect language and then provide me with a weak google link picture of a choke hold to try to prove it’s the same. So then it becomes me explaining that a choke hold is called a chokehold but it is not choking it is strangulation and that blows their minds and I am met with silence or swears. This is an incredibly important issue that needs to be discussed but it is very contentious and the defenders of strangulation can turn into rabid dogs very quickly. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate the effort you are taking here, that you are raising awareness and that you are using accurate language and data. It’s really important that we change the narrative around this subject. I would like to share this resource with you, I’m not sure if you are aware of them or not, but this was the group that did my training on strangulation. They go all over the US teaching medical professionals and law enforcement about strangulation and they have a ton of information and resources on their website. You might find them useful. Thank you for talking about this. strangulationtraininginstitu…

Every time a child is taught that they have a gender identity in school, they are suffering conversion practices. Every time a child is groomed to believe that they have a gender identity on social media, they are suffering conversion practices. Gender identity is an adult construct (Stoller, Money) dressed up as a "kind" response to childhood trauma. No child has a naturally occurring gender identity. Telling children they have a gender identity is a reprehensible conversion practice disguised as kindness.

An NHS hospital trust has wasted almost £1 million of public money trying to destroy nurses who simply didn't want to get undressed in front of a man.
1. 🚨BREAKING: County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has paid £187,000 in damages, apologised, and committed to separate changing facilities for male and female staff following the Darlington nurses’ legal case. In January, the Employment Tribunal had found the nurses suffered harassment and indirect sex discrimination over workplace changing-room arrangement. The case, brought by seven nurses at Darlington Memorial Hospital, Bethany Hutchison, Lisa Lockey, Karen Danson, Tracy Hooper, Annice Grundy, Carly Hoy and Jane Peveller, was supported by the Christian Legal Centre, which has provided the nurses with legal, media and pastoral support from the beginning of their ordeal. The case has become one of the most significant legal challenges in recent years concerning the freedom of female staff to access single-sex spaces in the workplace, with the nurses being compared to the Ford Dagenham workers and being dubbed ‘The Angels of the North.’ In January, Employment Judge Seamus Sweeney, ruled that the policy, which had been in place at the Trust for years allowing men who identify as women to access the female staff changing room, had amounted to unlawful discrimination. Following extensive and at times deeply protracted negotiations, the Trust has now paid out £187,000 in damages to the nurses, which does not include legal costs, which are still to be decided at a further hearing. This figure also does not include the Trust’s own legal costs of £603,000, and counting, spent on defending its position of allowing men into female changing rooms. See more on our website and in this🧵to see the Trust's apology and commitments on single-sex spaces.... christianconcern.com/ccpress…

lIf you do anything today, watch @MaeveHalligan at the Cambridge Union. I genuinely think this was the first time many people in that room were confronted with the hard reality of the trans debate, rather than the slogans that usually surround it. @BuckAngel was exceptional: calm, articulate, humane. Ultimate respect. And then there was Helen Webberley. I remember once thinking the criticism directed at her by GC women was excessive, especially the claim she was ‘pure evil’. After hearing her speak, I no longer think that. She is totally insincere. I can deal with hard ideologues- they believe they are telling the truth; they are genuine, @HelenWebberley is different. One audience member, a trans-identified male and former patient of hers, stood to speak during points of information. His account of how he had been treated was deeply disturbing. Watch the full debate. It is worth your time.

Women need women only spaces! Anyone harassing women running a single sex group for traumatised women should be ashamed of themselves.
We’re going to be on Radio Sussex at 8am today talking about the harassment we’ve received. Multiple venues have cancelled our yoga classes for traumatised women.

We built Jikipedia, a new wiki that compiles Jmail data into exhaustive reports on key figures in the Epstein scandal. It lists all recorded visits to Epstein's estates, each person's possible knowledge of Epstein's crimes and laws that they may have violated. Here is Epstein's executive assistant, who sent >100k emails to him and was shielded from prison via a 2007 non-prosecution deal.

Read this. Read everything you can about the Epstein files. ‘It’s sickening’ is not a reason not to read. It’s the reason we should all know more about it and hold them to account.

The rich have always abused the poor. It’s how they get rich and how they stay rich. The rich men in the Epstein circle believed themselves above the law, and poor girls below contempt. We should all be shocked by recent revelations but it’s no surprise.
‘How could the elite do this to daughters of the poor?’ THEY ALWAYS HAVE. At the height of Victorian morality, when white Englishmen felt they were so Christian & superior, they should rule the world: ‘high class’ brothels offered a child rape experience. MANY brothels. 1/

When someone says surrogacy was the “safest option,” what they usually mean is safest for them. That word is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Pregnancy doesn’t become safe, it just gets transferred to a poorer woman whose risk is treated as acceptable.
Meghan Trainor tells PEOPLE that surrogacy is not “something to whisper about or judge” after welcoming baby girl via surrogate: “It wasn’t our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family. We are forever grateful for that option. […] I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper about or judge. It’s rooted in trust, science, love, and teamwork. Every family’s journey looks different, and all of them are extremely valid.” (people.com/meghan-trainor-ex…)

Saw that Dylan Mulvaney is playing Anne Boleyn 🙄. What a performative piece of casting Not being able to produce a living heir for Henry V111 was such a tragic part of Anne Boleyn’s story and it was a huge part of why she was killed by him If she had been a man, no one would have killed her for not bearing the King a son And the saddest thing is she miscarried, likely a son. So she had to suffer that loss Her whole history, her context, and the impact of her sex on her life, is completely collapsed if she’s reimagined as a bloke in a frock And her daughter Elizabeth 1 was not only one of our greatest monarchs but also had her life entirely altered by the fact of being female It’s interesting to see how often a lack of desire to understand history is present in people who lack empathy for others. Especially empathy for women. Seems like you need to actually care about people to care about the people of the past If they can rewrite women of now, of course they won’t feel much shame about rewriting the women of back then But it’s as stupid as it is sad

Several studies have shown that, if the word ‘rape’ is not used, a significant proportion of men will admit to being rapists after reading descriptions of various rape scenarios.
A lot of men will say “rape is bad” truthfully, but they mean “I think an evil sadist raping a virginal, likeable woman in a public park in daylight is bad”. The minute you dig into whether a sex worker can be raped, if giving an ultimatum over sex is rape, or if having sex with a sleeping woman is rape, suddenly you get a lot of excuses for rape.

MYTH: Prostitution stops men raping women “Do we really accept that men can’t control themselves? Do we believe that when a man sees a woman or a girl, he can’t control himself and he has to rape her? Do we really accept that? No of course we don’t believe that. That is infantilising men. It is insulting their humanity. Like rape, prostitution is not only about sex. It is also about power and men using sex to gain personal power. Punters tell us this in their own words on websites such as punternet where they can rate the women they buy. It is chilling and disturbing to read their accounts and to see each punter’s lack of awareness that the prostituted woman is a human being with the same needs and hopes and dreams as he has; to see how he never questions his right to expect and demand that she should be ready to satisfy his every whim regardless of her own feelings. This is what prostitution teaches punters. It feeds their narcissism. Prostitution survivors tell us the same story. In her powerful speech at Feminism in London 2015, prostitution survivor Rebecca Mott said that punters think their violence is not real violence because “they view the prostituted as sub-human sexual goods. IT IS NOTHING HAPPENING TO NOTHING.” Where do the punters go when they leave the prostituted woman at the side of the road or they walk out of the brothel? They go back to their homes and jobs and leisure activities, carrying their prostitution-inflated sense of narcissistic entitlement with them. Along with their sense that women are other, sub-human. Together these attitudes make it more likely that they will harass, abuse or rape the other women they meet in their lives. Not less likely. So it is not true that prostitution stops men raping women. In fact the opposite is true. Prostitution makes the rape and sexual abuse of women and children MORE LIKELY.” Link to full article with further information in the next tweet.
