🔥 GAMMA RAY - Somewhere Out in Space 🇩🇪 (1997) If power metal had an album that feels like a science fiction movie, this is it. In 1997 Kai Hansen and company dropped their fifth album. Henjo Richter on guitar, Dirk Schlächter on bass and Dan Zimmermann on drums. "Beyond the Black Hole" opens with speed. "Somewhere Out in Space" (the Star Trek anthem), "Valley of the Kings", "The Winged Horse" and "Men, Martians and Machines" mix fast riffs, epic choruses and solos that don’t overstay. Clean production. Themes of space, aliens and portals. 57 minutes. Almost zero filler. What makes it iconic: after "Land of the Free" (1995) the band locked in its classic lineup and this is the album many consider the most rounded. Here Hansen stopped carrying the Helloween legacy and proved Gamma Ray could be just as big. It influenced a generation of power metal that wanted speed with melody and science fiction. It’s not the most experimental. It’s the most effective. Curious fact: "No Stranger (Another Day in Life)" was originally written for Michael Kiske’s solo album. Kiske rejected it because he thought it was "too heavy". Hansen recorded it with Gamma Ray and it stayed on the album. The honest part: it’s pure power metal. If you don’t like epic cheese, it’s not here. If you want anthems to shout live, it delivers. If you’ve never heard them, start with "Valley of the Kings". Put it on loud. This one or "Land of the Free"? 🤘 #GammaRay #SomewhereOutInSpace #PowerMetal #GermanMetal #KaiHansen #ClassicMetal
