For the past 4 mos I’ve been training for the Chicago Marathon, which has been a dream/challenge of mine since I’ve started my training @NUMSTP. I’ll be running for Ronald McDonald House Chicago, a group that provides housing/meals for families when their child is hospitalized.

Chicago is the most underrated city in the U.S. It is, I must inform the haters, New York's *only* peer. You just have to survive the winter (or leave for 2 months). NYers would get vertigo when they see Chicago rents. Highrise condo for the price of a Manhattan closet

Important review by @NUMSTP and @dgpnorthwestern students with recommendations for how we can mentor better...
New pub! Check out our work for insights on identity and barriers in medical scientist training. We pull from MD and PhD ‘only’ research, too, so there’s takeaways for any mentor / mentee.

Here, we review the literature on the barriers affecting URM and marginalized MD-PhD students during their training and discuss solutions to said barriers. We hope student leaders and administrators of MD-PhD programs leverage this tool to further their DEI efforts at home.
