Post-harvest losses remain a major concern across our food systems. Fresh produce can be lost through poor handling, storage and transportation, while grains can be affected by moisture, pests and inadequate storage.

Farmers are producing, but large volumes of fresh produce are being lost. At a time when Zimbabwe is preparing for the effects of a potentially severe El Niño, we cannot afford to produce food only to see it go to waste. We must strengthen market linkages, improve storage and handling, support value addition and reduce post-harvest losses across the food system.
