Mentoring is a time honored and sacred duty...and it has been both my honor and pleasure to mentor Terren Niethamer who leaves us to set up her own lab as a Stadtman Investigator at NIH. I can't wait to see what great endothelial biology she does in her own lab! #WhyWeScience

“#Neurosurgery needs molecular biology” - true in 1997 and true today. @kkariko talks about joy and struggles in science, with shout-out to former @PennNSG resident @drdavidlanger, an early collaborator. @Penn @PennMedicine #NobelPrize

Our latest paper understanding the functional consequence of #COPD GWAS variants is out @AJHGNews. Using #CRISPRi and #iPSC models we find that ADGRG6 exerts pleiotropic effects on type 2 alveolar epithelial cells, which is exacerbated by cigarette smoke exposure.

What an incredible day at Outward Bound with the @MorriseyLab and the Basil Lab @MariaCBasil! An amazing team-showing what this group is capable of when we work together. Fearless all-discovering that risk is often our business as explorers of science! #WhyWeScience
