THIS ⬇️ is the real problem with #immigration. Simplify and modernize the process for LEGAL immigration and other related issues start to whither away at a rate that a wall can never achieve. #TrumpAddress #OvalOfficeAddress

I spent two years working with Stephen Miller. His appointment as White House chief of staff is among the most dangerous personnel decisions in the history of our republic. I say that without reservation.

Trump could not give a bigger FU to the voters — especially Latino voters. The die is cast for 2028.
Stephen Miller is the new White House chief of staff, President Trump announces on Truth Social. NYT story coming shortly.

When I say that Democrats need to get organized on immigration it’s because Trump remains 100% committed to empowering the architect of the cruelest mass deportation campaign in modern history. This tells the multiracial coalition that chose Dems exactly who Trump is.
Trump announces Stephen Miller will be his new White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles.

And miller killed the deal by going behind the president's back. Marc Short (WH Leg Affairs director at the time) was calling Republican House members pushing them to support the deal trump wanted while miller threatened them if they did.
A very bad sign for any potential efforts to seek the kind of compromise that Americans are looking for on immigration. In 2018, Miller personally killed a deal for $25 billion for border wall in exchange for the DREAM Act (which usually polls at 70-80% support).

Honestly, it makes a ton of sense that Trump’s former head of DHS *doesn’t know how green cards work.*
Folks, Greg Abbott did this to himself. He begged the tech companies to come to Texas, and he had them bring their H1b employees, most of which are from India. 70 to 80 percent vote democrat. He pleased big business and got himself voted out. Did you ever wonder why the US Border Patrol was not mass deporting illegal aliens out of Houston or Dallas wholesale? His chickens have come home to roost.

Brilliant piece by @CharlesFLehman. The right’s “Bo-Frenchists” would rather have the GOP lose on white nationalist “principle” than have the GOP build a winning coalition that attracts Americans of all ethnicities and faiths. Republicans pander to Bo-Frenchists at their peril.
The nativist right has invented its own way to put its ideological predilections over actually winning. Me for @compactmag: compactmag.com/article/again…

Uplifting post by @yardin24 w/ @AFPhq. But there is a warning: 'Whether it’s the surge in antisemitism or in anti-immigrant sentiment, old-world thinking threatens to tear the country apart and reduce it to an unexceptional, illiberal regime.' americansforprosperity.org/p…

Disgusting and insane that after Republicans get routed in part because of too many associations with white nationalism, someone who says “America was built by White men, for White men” is going viral as some sort of sage. America was built by freedom-loving people for freedom-loving people. There is nothing to be proud of with whiteness or any other skin color. I am grateful to everyone, regardless of skin color, who is building America right now. Which includes a ton of brilliant nonwhite immigrants without whom we’d be in far, far worse economic shape. We need pro-freedom politicians who feel and exude actual love for freedom-loving people of all skin colors—and who want more of them. Those politicians would be unstoppable.
Replying to @JeninYounesEsq
America was built by White men, for White men. If it wasn’t for the generosity of White men, you’d be stuck in some middle eastern shithole right now, getting beaten by your petty tyrant husband for having the audacity to read or some other insane barbarian charge. Yet rather than thanking White men for letting you parasitize our homeland, you denounce the very people who built it and graciously allow you to share in its freedoms, even at their own detriment. You can call that racist. It doesn’t make you any less a beneficiary of it. And it won’t do you any good when we send you back.

One of few bright spots for the GOP yesterday was Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar. Earlier this year, @MHowellTweets - @KevinRobertsTX's golden boy at the ruins of @Heritage - called her "the representative of foreigners." jasonahart.substack.com/p/ta…
Yesterday, voters in Florida’s 27th Congressional District and across America made their voices heard. This is a moment of reckoning for our country and for the Republican Party I proudly represent. For years, I have spoken about what I hear from families in Miami. They want a secure border, but they also want an immigration system that respects the dignity of hardworking people. They want a strong economy and they also need to be able to afford their homes, groceries, and everyday expenses. These concerns deserve to be heard, and this election reminds us just how important it is to listen. Following our election-night victory, I spoke about the road ahead and my commitment to bringing the voices of our community to Washington. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Florida’s 27th District. Our work is far from over. 🇺🇸

Clip-and-save this editorial. Freedom conservatism is the path forward. The false prophets of populism misunderstand both the American electorate and how their policy choices affect the everyday life of normal people. #FreeCon
Voters in swing states approved a lot of conservative ballot measures while voting for anti-Trump candidates. If Democrats lurch far left on policy, the voters who gave them an enormous victory on Tuesday will be strongly tempted to switch back to the GOP or stay home in future elections. @PostOpinions washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

No doubt the political geniuses at NatCon, Heritage, American Compass, AmCon looking at the election returns right now: We gotta have Trump’s VP run for president on “four more years!” because only a candidate with twice the nastiness and bigotry of Trump and none of his charisma can fulfill the revolution.

Here's an example of how Abbott used his power to threaten local governments in Texas to aid mass deportation efforts (including deportations of people who call 911). Texas won't miss those bad policies.

Two years ago the GOP won Texas by 14 points and was rightfully proud of its multiracial coalition. Two years of tariffs, racism and war later, and everything changed. But if you think more racism is the answer, you'll lose forever and deserve every single defeat. Oh, and in 1970, the Democratic Party was in nearly absolute control of the state of Texas, when it was a whiter state. Demographics are not destiny.
In 1970, the White population in Texas was 89%. In 2000, it was 50%. Now it’s less than 39%. Demographics is destiny.

In 1970 the White population included Hispanic people because surveys in Texas didn't ask about Hispanic ethnicity as a separate question from race. In 2000 the White population for just race was 71%. Today White is 74% and "White, not Hispanic" sorted for ethnic origin is 37%. census.gov/quickfacts/TX

So I guess 35% don't understand basic economics.
Exit polls show that 65 percent of voters thought the trade war hurt the economy.
