The cheap green lie
You are told that solar and wind are cheap
But you need near-100% backup when no sun or wind, paying for two systems
Data for 2025 shows that
cramming in more solar and wind makes electricity overall more and more costly

True
Lula packed Brazil’s Supreme Court with his own lawyer and justice minister and had them lock his rival up for 27 years.
Back in 2023, after taking power, he named Cristiano Zanin and Flávio Dino to the court. In 2025 both voted to convict Jair Bolsonaro of a coup plot and hand him the sentence.
That court had previously wiped Lula’s own corruption convictions in 2021 so he could run again.
On election day, Zanin ordered the polls kept open another 2 hours, 3 minutes before they were supposed to close. Both sides had asked, but the call came from Lula’s former defense lawyer.
Even after Bolsonaro was barred and jailed, Lula still trailed Flávio 45–47 in the first round and only scraped past him by under 4 points in the runoff.
Flávio still refuses to concede. Lula called the win a defeat for denialism and lies.
Two of the judges who put his rival away were the men he put on the court. Voters barely picked him. The court cleared the path.

COSTINGS AREN'T THAT HARD
One of my biggest frustrations whilst a Senator was the fact that politicians would refuse to get their policies costed.
Costings aren't that hard and the failure by political parties to release costings is a symptom of their incompetence.
All politicians can access the Parliamentary Budget Office to get their policies costed.
Chalmers asking for advice as to where government expenditure should be cut is just plain incompetence. He should know as he has had access to Treasury for over four years in his role as Treasurer.
I'm pleased to say that People First got most of our policies costed at the last election.
This is in contrast to One Nation. When asked why they didn't cost their policies Pauline Hanson didn't even know that she could use the PBO. This is despite the fact she's been a Senator for a decade!
Yet again it's another example whereby Pauline Hanson is not up to speed on the basic workings of government.
People First will continue to call out incompetence wherever we see it. Unfortunately none of the majors are currently fit to govern.
Which is why we ask you to support PeopleFirstParty.au so that we can continue to hold the major parties to account.

"The Treasurer on Monday challenged business leaders to name the areas where the government should cut, after the Coalition threw down the gauntlet to him with a surprise midterm tally of spending cuts and budget savings of $31bn over four years from climate change to housing programs."

"One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has been caught out misleading voters over why she has not yet costed her signature policies, raising further questions about her capacity to be a candidate for prime minister.
Senator Hanson has repeatedly defended not having costed One Nation's signature tax policy, income splitting, arguing the party was unable to use the PBO before the last election because it did not have enough MPs to be considered a formal party in Canberra.
But the PBO rules allow any MP or senator to cost policies, rendering Senator Hanson's excuse invalid.
The same income-splitting policy Senator Hanson took to the last election was costed by former independent senator Gerard Rennick, who told The Australian he had no problem utilising the PBO despite being the only member of his party in parliament last term."

🇧🇷 Brazil’s election ended with Lula winning by 4.4 million votes... and half the country asking HOW?!?!
Going into yesterday, Flávio Bolsonaro was the CLEAR betting favorite at around 80% on Polymarket.
Then, minutes after polls were supposed to close, a Supreme Court justice stepped in and extended voting nationwide by 2 hours, without waiting for the electoral court to rule.
That justice, Cristiano Zanin, used to be Lula’s PERSONAL DEFENSE LAWYER in the Car Wash corruption case, and Lula appointed him to the court. (Which might explain that look of pure devotion in the photo.)
Both campaigns had asked for more time, but the order caused chaos.
Stations that had already closed had to stay shut, machines in parts of Rio couldn’t be restarted, and the vote count was frozen.
When counting resumed, Flávio briefly LED. But the betting markets flipped to Lula about an hour before the official count did.
Bolsonaro is refusing to concede and wants the entire runoff annulled, calling the extension an illegal rule change by a judge tied to his opponent.
When Lula’s former lawyer rewrites the rules mid-vote, the least Brazil deserves is a full investigation.
If it’s all clean, what’s there to fear?
