The head of Catholic Education Tasmania has argued that sexual consent education in schools is amoral and potentially harmful. Yet as @Marson_Katrina writes, many may consider such education as consistent with Catholic teachings.

Why am I not sold on consent education? What is sexual wellbeing? What can we promise young people?

Pointing to an acquittal as evidence for why a sexual offence trial shouldn't have been prosecuted is mostly unhelpful. The trial process exists because there'll always be contested cases. Otherwise the only cases in the courts would be those with guilty pleas going to sentence.
Want to know why sex-ed is so important? Why we should resist fearmongering? Why it's a political issue? I wrote a book about it almost a year ago!

A survey of 2,400 Aus parents show they want schools to teach more sex education topics and from an earlier age, 🏫
@JacquiHendriks @Marson_Katrina @burns_sharyn found approximately 90% of parents supported topics the curriculum typically avoids 👇🏽

"I'm a confident person," Shani said tonight on @insightSBS when explaining that she nonetheless found it hard to communicate in sexual contexts. This is a common refrain, as the sexual context is unique & we're socialised to believe it has very different rules. @kumitaguchi

Dear schools, please feel comfortable to teach a whole range of sex ed topics. Australian parents have your back and they want you to teach more than consent. Check out my recent article: theconversation.com/australi… via @ConversationEDU @Bloom_edAU
"So long as we yield to those who oppose sex-ed on the misguided or malfeasant basis that it will corrupt innocence, we are condemning every generation."
Our recent findings show Australian parents overwhelmingly want better sex-ed in schools.

My first piece for Crikey!
In the ACT organisations, business and individuals now have a legal duty to take reasonable and proportionate steps to eliminate sexual harassment.
In short, writes @Marson_Katrina, sexual harassment is everybody's problem (and that's a very good thing).

"It'd be almost two decades before I looked at my genitals again. At 33, legs akimbo in front of the mirror, I attempted to inspect a dark mark on my labia minora that my husband had, um, noticed."
Find out what's happening with my labia minora here 🙃
