I was honoured to speak at the World Leaders Forum at Seton Hall.
Institutions like Seton Hall contribute to our common mission by fostering knowledge, sharpening critical thinking, and nurturing a commitment to service, justice, and global solidarity—the values that sustain multilateralism.
I thank the students and faculty at Seton Hall for the kind invitation and dynamic discussion.

There are valid criticisms of the WTO, Cullen Hendrix writes. But it still provides developing countries with something they often lack: rules where size doesn’t immediately trump sovereignty & smaller, or at least poorer, economies have a voice—& a veto.

Congratulations and thanks to the IMF Board, MGMT and Staff for listening to governments from the Global South, outside experts, and civil society and reforming its interest rate policy. Much more to be done but a big step in the right direction.
An important reform that lowers the cost of borrowing from the IMF by 36% or about US$1.2 billion annually just went through. Read more here: imf.org/en/News/Articles/202…

Forcing a country to borrow from the private market at 11% should never be the result of an IMF policy -- if this really was done as a financing assurance, those financing assurances need to be rethought
