On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, & enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples. Today is also a time to reflect on the injustices Indigenous communities have faced & recognize the importance of preserving Indigenous voices, traditions, & sovereignty.
As the first woman, and the first Hispanic, to serve as U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Antonia Novello broke barriers and dedicated her life to improving public health. Her legacy reminds us that leadership in medicine is not only about science, but also about equity, and courage.

Every Virginian deserves to live free from violence and fear. This month and every month, we stand with survivors of domestic violence and those working to build safer communities.
The State Corporation Commission has scheduled a public hearing tonight, in Fairfax regarding the proposed $67 billion merger between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy.
This is currently the only in-person public hearing scheduled in Northern Virginia.
I remain opposed to this merger because I am not convinced it will lead to lower energy costs for Virginia families and businesses. If you have concerns about the proposed merger, I encourage you to attend the hearing and make your voice heard.

Oh, what a day! Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the commemorative special session in Williamsburg, a truly meaningful opportunity to reflect on our history and the significance of the moment.
