HSBC made £900 every SECOND over the last three months.
The case for taxing these bumper profits to support people with the cost of living crisis is overwhelming.

Early prisoner release scheme?
Let’s look at the facts and why we’ve got to where we are.
650 prisoners released early this week because there’s nowhere left to put them.
The Tories closed 23 prisons in 14 years, leaving the prison system 99.7% full.

We're turning the tide on violence.
When I launched my Violence Reduction Unit, it was built on a simple belief: prevention works.
One million Londoners reached later, the results speak for themselves.

The number of young people in hospital for knife assault has dropped 55% since 2019.
There are also 12,500 fewer victims of violence with injury since we were set up by @SadiqKhan.
There's still more to do but there is progress in making London safer.

What is @KemiBadenoch’s new big idea? Exactly the same as the Conservatives’ old big idea: unfunded tax cuts. It’s the lack of imagination as much as the fiscal incontinence that stands out torstenbell.substack.com/p/k…

We cannot allow the devastating legacy of transatlantic slavery to be forgotten.
We’re supporting 10 community groups across the city to explore this history and help create a network of memorials linked to The Wake, London’s new Memorial to Victims of Transatlantic Slavery.

ALT Promotional graphic from the Mayor of London highlighting Black history projects across the city. The image shows a community event in a modern indoor venue, with several people seated and talking in small groups. The headline reads, “Spotlighting Black History across London.” Supporting text states that 10 community groups across London have been awarded grants for activities including walking tours and exhibitions to help tell stories connected to transatlantic slavery and its lasting impact. Mayor of London branding appears in the bottom-right corner.

Thanks for highlighting the issue. This will be a serious loss for people living on Tulse Hill, or near Tulse Hill.
We were out along the 415 bus route this morning, speaking to residents about TfL’s plan to scrap it.
If you rely on this bus, make sure you tell TfL what losing it would mean to you.

Four years ago Wandsworth Council voted unanimously to be a Borough of Sanctuary for refugees.
Last night the Tories voted to end the scheme. Once again following in the footsteps of Reform councils.
😡 Watch the Tory leader explain why:

Today’s @guardian article about the go ahead for Jackdaw is packed with angry reactions from environment campaigners of one flavour or another. On the whole I find them illogical.
@tessakhan of Uplift says Jackdaw won’t stop the overall decline in North Sea jobs - obvious.
Ellie Mae O’Hagan of E3G says the government should invest in heat pumps instead - madness.
@ZackPolanski says it’s climate vandalism and a betrayal of all our futures - counterfactual hyperbole.
Ami McCarthy @Ami_McC of Greenpeace says this project won’t boost energy security - but the gas will be used here…..
The arguments against Jackdaw are mainly arguments against something the government hasn't claimed today….but there’s also the 'Shrodingers Jackdaw’ - it’s described as both too small to make any difference yet so big Shell will “generate record profits” - can it be both things? Nah. It’s actually too small to make much of a difference to anything, good or bad.....
Jackdaw is tiny, it holds six months or less of total UK annual consumption - that’s it. The gas will be used here, I don't think that boosts energy security by any measurable amount, but it will be made and used here - unlike the oil from Rosebank - important distinction..
But here’s the big thing that's missing - the gas from Jackdaw will have a much lower carbon footprint than the LNG we use now. Up to 75% less. Overall our carbon emissions will surely go down not up. Not by much - this is a tiny project.
Climate activists (some of them) need to be real - tiny gas field, already licensed, producing lower carbon gas than we already use, therefore lowering our emissions as a country (but not by much) - doesn’t move the dial much on anything actually.
Calm down and carry on I say…:).
The North Sea is in terminal decline, our need for fossil fuels is going down with it - this graph in the G illustrates.
Jackdaw makes no difference.

TfL want to remove the 415 bus, reducing the frequency of buses between Tulse Hill, Brixton & beyond. This is not good imo. Together with the proposal to reduce the frequency of the P13 bus, this represents a much worse service for locals.
