Barack Obama bombed seven countries in 2016 alone, dropping over 26,000 bombs. The US was bombing so extensively that it almost ran out of bombs. His administration even introduced the double-tap drone strike. Yet his base didn't care. You didn't see left-wing commentators telling Democrats to stay home or let Republicans win to teach their party a lesson.
Republicans, on the other hand, had commentators actively discouraging their own base from turning out to vote because of the Iran war. That's the difference. Democrats rally behind their party despite its flaws, while Republicans end up sabotaging their own side.
