📰✨ I am very grateful and thrilled for the opportunity to share our research on pesticide contamination in Irish soils with @Independent_ie. Massive thanks to @BlanaidWhiteDCU, @JimCarolanMU, @DCU, @DCUFSH and research funder @agriculture_ie !🎉🎉🎉
🌱 Our study is just the beginning of soil pesticide research in Ireland. Our research will serve as a foundation, but future studies will need to explore a wider range of compounds, pesticide persistence dynamics, and address the potential risks of pesticide contamination
Our study also highlights challenges in assessing environmental risks. Detectability variations, concerns for water contamination, and complex field-level dynamics underscore the need for continuous monitoring
96% of samples across 25 sites show detectable levels. Neonicotinoids were detected in 24 sites, even without recent application. Surprisingly, 15 of 25 sites have pesticides not recently applied
Unlocking the story of pesticides in Irish soil! 🌱🇮🇪 Our study dives into the impact of the widely used pesticides in Irish agriculture, vital for a €14.4 billion sector 🪙
📢Exciting news! Our study on pesticide contamination in Irish soils is featured in the Irish Independent! 🇮🇪
