Attracted to ocean-going research and innovative lab work? This is the PhD for you!
Pete Smith discussing the famous 'pizza diagram ' when discussing the benefial impacts of Soil C Sequestration #SCS on ecosystem services on day 3 of the #NegativeCO2emissions conference
What would you do with 100 Gt C of agricultural residues, SCS or BECCS? (Or perhaps biochar?) Interesting question by Kristine Karstens, mixed opinions in the audience #negativeCO2emissions
As the final speaker in the #Soils session, @christhell Andrade Diaz looks at the role that crop residues can play in a bioeconomy in France and Ecuador #negativeCO2emissions
Day 2 of the #NegativeCO2emissions conference kicking off with excellent keynotes by @paul_zakkour and @_david_ho_ on the challenges of MRV of CDR. Great interactions during the Q&A
Reinaldy Poetra @unihh kicking off the first Enhanced Rock Weathering session at the #NegativeCO2emissions conference with a very informative presentation on the use of steel slag for #CDR
As the final speaker of the #ERW session, @IngridSmet_geo from @carbon_drawdown explained ERW field trials with dunite conducted in Greece. No negative effect on yield or plant nutrition, surprising mobile behaviour of Cr #NegativeCO2emissions
Great plenary discussion during the #ERW Q&A session #NegativeCO2emissions
Very nice and clear presentation of the 2nd #StateofCDR report by Steve Smith on the #NegativeCO2emissions conference. Great start of the week!

Replying to @TCalogiuri
@TCalogiuri PhD student @SOC_WUR and @SBL_WUR presenting her results at the SOM 2024 meeting in Morocco. Here more info on her project on enhanced mineral weathering: fet-bam.eu/
An exciting presentation at #SOM2024 by @TCalogiuri on the influence of #earthworms on SOC-SIC dynamics under silicate weathering. I 🤍 seeing our community considering biotic influences on SIC formation! Thanks for sharing your awesome research with us!

With another semester ending, here's your annual reminder that teaching evaluations systemically disadvantage women. Even when controlling for grades and other factors, students (esp. males) consistently give female professors lower scores. This can have serious ramifications.🧵
