I appreciate the ongoing conversation between Gov. Hobbs and the lead legislative water negotiators. We agreed that the urgency of protecting rural water demands immediate action, even with legislators unlikely to gather for a special session this year.

These Republican bills were not solutions to our water needs, but let's keep looking for real consensus solutions.

Arizona Republican bills were not real solutions to our water crisis.
Grateful to @MathisforAZ & @priya4az for their leadership on water policy. Democrats continue to be the adults in the room who are working toward real solutions for all Arizonans.

“Republicans are pretending to have easy solutions on water, but what they’ve pushed through will only weaken our existing groundwater laws and fail to provide lasting protections for either rural or urban Arizonans.” — Must-read op-ed on Arizona’s water future by Sen. @priya4az and Rep. @MathisforAZ.

While the Republican majority pretends these bills were solutions to Arizona's water crises, @MathisforAZ and I are ready to keep negotiating to find true consensus solutions to our rural and urban groundwater needs.

Thank you @GovernorHobbs for vetoing today many water bills that this Legislature pushed through in its final days, including SB1172.
Some of these concepts have merit and potentially reduce groundwater use, but that's not guaranteed under the terms of the bills passed.

EDAF applauds @GovernorHobbs veto of #SB1172.💧Water policy must be collaborative, thoroughly consider negative outcomes, and provide necessary consumer protections. 🏚️ We look forward to working with the governor in solving these challenges in both urban and rural Arizona.

🧵In the midst of a challenging legislative session, a group of Arizona lawmakers defended the rights & well-being of all Arizonans. They courageously confronted attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, particularly safeguarding the future of trans & non-binary youth.

Thank you @GovernorHobbs for vetoing #SB1001. Arizona’s youth shouldn’t have to live in fear of being their authentic selves. May we continue to do better.
