That felt like the first signs of Grantball being able to flex its muscles. Much fitter and more athletic than the opponent, blending with an understanding of what each other is doing and wanting with collective responsibility and sky high expectations of each other. A fine win.
For all the chatter about us having no decent forwards, I can’t remember a better performance from TWO of our strikers for a long, long time.
Lee Grant’s football certainly gets you off your seat. Hats off to the recruitment team. Crew and Moore just as good as the two up top.

In terms of controlling possession and managing the game, that second half was as good as I’ve seen us in a while.
We missed Pressley but it helped show that it should always be Simper or Evans as the 10 and Dallas and Sodje as the back-up 9s.
Lots to like about us.

Brilliant cameo from Dallas today, who looked a much more effective 9️⃣ than a 1️⃣0️⃣. Similarly, Simper took his extended opportunity superbly and you could see him grow into the shirt as his time on the pitch progressed. We have recruited very well this summer.
Lee Grant’s mighty Saddlers the only club in the 92 yet to be behind this season.
Hat tip to @AliMaxwell_
Some interesting quotes in here about Sadler’s approach. More evidence of the substance over style, fitness over finesse theories.
Not saying I’d have played them all but imagine Cleary, Assiimwe, Chang etc would be making similar comments.

📊📉📈 League tables lie.
Here’s how the Premier League & EFL are really shaping up so far…

This transfer window has felt a bit… odd.
Huge fees being shuffled between Premier League clubs for players who haven’t necessarily done enough to justify them. Values seemingly rising regardless of performances. Academy players treated as accounting opportunities. Clubs buying from each other at enormous premiums.
Maybe it’s just what happens when the league is awash with money and financial rules incentivise trading.
But the whole thing has felt strange, artificial and, at times, uncomfortable. Some of the fees, valuations and mutually convenient deals make it hard not to raise an eyebrow.

Remember when we didn’t score in pre-season and people thought we were getting relegated

Impossible to preview our season with so many unknowns.
Some of the recruitment moans are because we haven’t signed names or experience but that’s not what we do. Bradshaw, Ince and Weimann aren’t our model. We buy young and keen to succeed. We polish and improve. We sell.
Yes, we’re short of a striker, a wide man and a left back but Lowe l/Kanu didn’t join until 22nd August. There’s still time.
I’m not against seeing what Pressley and Dallas can do either. One’s young(ish) and might just kick on in a more creative team. The other scored 17 in NL.
